I heard back from Lexus on the XM radio volume and sound issues yesterday and they said after discussing with the dealer that it is 'Normal operation' and there is no issue.


When I told them how come the wife's Prius, my 08 Highlander Hybrid and that newer CT's didn't seem to have the same issues (even directed them to this site), they had no answer other then to say Service determined that his is normal operation for this radio when compared with other Lexus vehicles. A little disappointed in Lexus's response, or lack of response.

I complained about the signal frequently cutting out to a friend after driving my new CT home this past weekend 450 miles. He mentioned reading about solar flares and their impact to satelite communications such as radio. Although I found the following article interesting I don't think it has any bearing on this thread because it would affect all users of the service, not just CT drivers. Solar storms threaten modern computing | PC Plus Either way, I was glad to have my USB drive for the ride home and will continue to use it for long trips in the future.

i have the same problem... and i live in Florida, not Texas. I thought XM and Sirius merged, but i could be wrong. My 90 day free subscription is about to end, do you all suggest i dont buy the subscription??

I live in Texas and just got back from a round trip to Fort Lauderdale, FL. I listened to the same station all the way and had no problems. Love my XM and have already signed up for 2 years.

I really don't see how solar storms would be the culprit. It's been real bad quality for 3 straight months in mine, and I didn't renew.

That's really your call, do you enjoy listening to it and can you live with the quality? I prefer to just stream Pandora from my phone and use the USB drive...though I sure do miss my Howard Stern!
