Per my TRIP A odometer, I'm averaging 350-360 miles on every fill up. Is everyone else getting more or less miles? I thought with 43 miles even with 42 miles to a gallon (12 gallon tank), you would get at least 400+ miles driving on NORMAL mode.

Any response is appreciated. Thanks
Well what can i say, look at the fuel pump ... you are not filling up a full tank of 11.9 gallons are you? You probably have almost 3 gallons more you could drive.

Doesn't any real response depend on how many gallons you put in the tank on every fill up? Your request implies that there are 12 usable gallons in the tank. There are not. If you put in 6 gallons then you are doing great. If you put in 12 gallons then you are not. On my Prius I seldom put in more than 8 gallons when I filled up. Do the math, then let's talk.

Getting much more here. Pulled 52.2 (indicated), 50mpg (calculated) on the last tank.

Heck, I hit over 400 miles and the low fuel light hadn't even come on.

The total came out to be:

510.4 miles, 10.2 gallons

52.2mpg indicated at the end of the tank.
50.04mpg calculated on that tank.

Still hoping to do even better! The car is only at 4,000 miles!

Dozer42,

Very, very nice! I think you live in the temperature zone 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit that promotes great mileage. Too hot here too not run the A/C which really hurts the high mpg. But then again I sense you have some driving conditions that encourages hyper-miling and you seem too have developed that skill very well! Since you get 0.5 better in "sport" mode, maybe you should drive there all the time :D

Back to the original poster Aloon, the gas gauge is very conservative and when the low fuel light first comes on you still have about 3 gallons and even when it shows completely empty you have a couple of gallons. You can easily drive 400 miles per tanks as Dozer42 has graciously pointed out. You just have to remember that big brother Lexus has set you gas gauge to psychologically fool you into filling up when you have only gone 350-360 miles because they don’t want you to run out of gas even though you still can go another 100-150 miles easily.

I filled up this week with my fuel light on (the first time I've gone that low) and my car took 34.1 litres. So when the light comes on, there's still 10l of gas in the tank!

I do not know my lowest, but i can say my average is always around 35 mpg and I am very disappointed.
it is true, i do not drive much, and mostly short trips ( 5-10 miles) but still... :(
That is REAL consumption, calculated.
I am also disappointed by the computer misleading me constantly, trying to show more mpg than in reality :(
I can not imagine how other people get 48-50 etc with this car.
I am really good driver but not with this one..

I feel your pain... I can't get terrific gas mileage with my CT either. The computer in the car is truly misleading. I too can get over 50 mpg on the computer when the car is going down hill.
