So I've seen a bunch of threads on here about your best average mpg on a tank of gas, but what was your worst? Explain a little about how you did it! :D

It'll be nice to see what the bottom line is no matter how hard you drive your CT.

Nice idea for a thread. I don't have any data for you yet, but recently I'm using sport a bit more and not thinking about MPG.. Might move in to the low 40s now.. :p
25.8 - I got that by just running around town without any larger trips. I reside in a small town where I can hit the post office, grocery store and recycling center with only 12 miles put on the odometer. :) Used up about 3/4 of the tank over the course of weeks before I took a longer trip and the MPG went back up. :)
39.5mpg was on my very first tank of gas. was paying no attention to the Eco/Power range on the meter plus i think there was a slight break-in period. been averaging 43-44 with 70% highway/30%city driving ever since.

35.6 MPG has been my lowest. This was 100% city with 3-5 mile trips. I only drove 95 miles. I was going out of town and wanted to leave on a full tank. Usual MPG runs 37-42 MPG and depends on length of trips. Longer trips get better MPG. Average for a 3800 mile trip was 40.9 driving speed limit and using cruise.
wow! 14 mpg!!! actually, i believe it....after i leave a gas station and crawl up a hill, i am in the 15-17mpg real-time gauge territory for a while until i can coast down and it picks up to 33-35 mpg.
5.8L/100km or 40.5 mpg. Was a 600km/375mile highway trip in April, loaded car (about 700lbs).

With that said, winter is around the corner. With more electronics such as the heater, heated mirrors, windshield, and seats, the gas engine will kick in more often, so I expect to probably beat my current worst in January 2012. I hope I don't dip above 6.0L/100km or below 40 mpg though. We'll see.

Yup. Very good point. I'm already starting to see a small decrease in MPG now that it's been in the upper 30's in the AM when I leave for work. I have a feeling we'll definitely be below 40 MPG once we're in the middle of winter.
I think my lowest was 42-43mpg (calculated), and that was early on right after picking up from the dealer with 'test driven' miles on it.

Right now it never drops below 50mpg (indicated), and I regularly get home at about 52.5mpg.

This is with extremely varied driving, all over the SF Bay Area, across bridges many times, up and down the steep hills of Pacifica and San Francisco, and with a good number of short trips. (From a client in San Mateo to my local watering hole, maybe 5 minutes, then 5 minutes to home from there, etc).

How fast are you generally driving on local roads and freeways?
Usually not more than 5-10 over on the freeway, maybe 5 in town.
This weekend we drove from NC to PA in the rain with the defroster on the whole way. Then we crawled around Philadelphia in this freak snow storm & added the rear defogger, and B mode on most of the time on the slick roads. Plus lots of stop and go & gas engine idling during warm-ups and scrape-offs. Still above 40 MPG at this point.
Well, the colder weather is starting to affect the mileage. I only averaged 5.8l/100km this last tank, way down from 5.2 - 5.4 I have been experiencing.
I've been keeping it in Sport mode, and flooring it from light to light, and can't manage to get my average under 35.1 mpg.

Daily commute, mixed highway and city driving.
50-52mpg is WOW. How do you get this ? What mode do you drive ? Is your A/C on while you drive ? Its amazing someone getting this mileage. I have just refilled my first gas tank and I have recd. 41 mpg.
I know there are some hyper milers but some of the claims of mileage are hard to believe. I don't make huge efforts to get really high mileage but the Prius boards are much worse. On the other hand, I have no way of knowing why or how some of these people are so much more skilled than I am. Good for them.

I am with you Joe! I get to do a lot of highway driving at 70-80 and a minimal amount of stoplights. I drive for pleasure when I want too. I usually drive in Normal mode and the mileage doesn't vary that much, somewhere in the low to mid 40s. However, if I need (or want to accelerate ) it temporarily drops to mid 30s. I don't hyper mile; Life is too short!
Mileage Per Gallon

Per my TRIP A odometer, I'm averaging 350-360 miles on every fill up. Is everyone else getting more or less miles? I thought with 43 miles even with 42 miles to a gallon (12 gallon tank), you would get at least 400+ miles driving on NORMAL mode.

Any response is appreciated. Thanks

Only 2 tanks of gas so far but both were pretty much 650km which is pretty close to 400 miles.
