I like the style of the standard CT 200h wheels and would simply like to give them a shiny black chrome appearance (similar to F-SPORT wheels). Does anybody know of a company in the SoCal area that I could get this finish done to existing wheels?
I did find a company that will apply a black diamond/chrome finish to the stock wheels and I believe this will look nice with my Nebula gray exterior. Do you think the extra weight added to the wheels will effect my MPG?Another option is black Perma Chrome (just google for a local place in SoCal).
Personally I wanted something a bit lighter and went with 16lb aftermarket wheels and then had them permachromed. (Stock wheels are 25lbs or so).
What's the product, is it regular chrome or Perma chrome mentioned above?I did find a company that will apply a black diamond/chrome finish to the stock wheels and I believe this will look nice with my Nebula gray exterior. Do you think the extra weight added to the wheels will effect my MPG?
It's actually called a PVD coatingWhat's the product, is it regular chrome or Perma chrome mentioned above?
No, Permachrome adds very little weight, almost nothing.I did find a company that will apply a black diamond/chrome finish to the stock wheels and I believe this will look nice with my Nebula gray exterior. Do you think the extra weight added to the wheels will effect my MPG?
Reset yourself button on the underside of the plastic cover below steering wheel. Get your head under and look by the footwell light. Reset detailed in owners manual.I am having an independent shop swap out rims and they will use my existing valve stems with tire pressure monitors. Does the tire pressure monitoring system have to be reprogrammed again? If so does a Lexus dealer need to do it?
You would experience the same thing if you did this on the CT as you did on your Prius.Has anyone yet swapped out for winter tires and wheels and not installed the TPMS stems? I did that with the Wifes Prius and my 08 HH with no problem, other then the light coming on after 15 min and it reset when we got home and were by the summer tires and wheels with the TPMS's mounted in them.
That's what I thought, but you never know with electronics. Can't see buying 4 more TPMS valves and having to go to the dealer in the fall and spring and getting the ECM reprogrammed. You would experience the same thing if you did this on the CT as you did on your Prius.
Yup. I am using my OEM wheels (with factory rubber) without the TPMS for the winter setup, as I have my TPMS in my 18" wheels. Haven't used them yet w/out the sensors, but that's what I did in my last car. In my last car (Infiniti), the light didn't come on until about 40 min. of driving...would always come on in the exact stretch of highway about 2 miles from my office.Has anyone yet swapped out for winter tires and wheels and not installed the TPMS stems? Some Lexi have the provision to learn & switch between two sets wheels/TPMS from the dashboard. I could do this on my last IS250.For the life of me I cannot understand why they don't have 9 openings (Spare & 4 Summer & 4 Winter) availabe and just a switch you use to change where it looks for either the Summer and Winter TPMS senders, or better yet 'inexpensive' programable TPMS senders that you could program with the ones that were on the car originally.
I've got a set of (4) stock 17" wheels I'd let go for a fair price if you'd like them. You could have them black chrome'd, swap them on, then figure out what to do with the extra set.I am still waiting for the wheel company to get their stockCT 200h “core” wheels in stock so they can apply black chrome to them and thenjust do a simple swap out with my wheels. Otherwise, I have to leave myexisting wheels for three days while they apply “black chrome”. I have beenwaiting for a couple of weeks for their wheels to come in and the stock wheelsare starting to grow on me and I am losing my enthusiasm for the new wheels. Does anybody have the ability to Photoshopa Nebula gray CT 200h with stock wheels done in black chrome?
I’m just not sure if the black chrome wheels are going to bethat much of an improvement to the car.
Can you please measure the weight of the wheels when you get them?My Trident F-Sport wheels are in and I'll pick them up next Friday when I have the coolant recall done Yeah!!!!![]()
They are 17x7 and they said they 'guessed' they weighed about 27lbs as close as they could tell. Can you please measure the weight of the wheels when you get them?
