Wheel Damage at a shop. It happened again :(

514 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  MonkeyWrench
I had my OEM rims powder coated black. I have had 3 different shops damage the finish on my wheels in the lifetime of my ownership of this vehicle. This is getting really irritating.

Some shops refuse to put tires on my car because of "fear of damaging the wheels". With or without powder coat, this is damage.

Maybe I should just get OEM black rims to have a better chance of a shop not complaining that it's "aftermarket".

Are you taking your car/wheels to a well known tire company like discount tire or a mom and pops shop?
Yes.

The shop did a great job on the other 3 wheels. The 4th wheel looked like it got dropped or a tool damaged the spoke. Before even servicing my car, I made sure the shop new my wheels were powder coated. They agreed it was something they could do without any problem. Even after the damage occurred, they showed me how they mount and balance tires. No rubbing occurred during the demo. So, it's obvious the tech dropped the wheel or did something to it by accident.
