So today I brought in my CT for the 8,000 KM free oil change/inspection. The usual - get a free loaner, free car wash etc.
If anybody remembers my damaged rim incident from April/May, I had one of my front mags replaced after my daughter dropped it into a pothole. Cost me about $1,100 to replace the tire and mag. At the time, the software for the CT200h alignment was not available at the dealer. He said he would call me when it came in so that I could have th car re-aligned. He never called back. I didn't feel any unneccesary pulling when driving so I figured I would wait until my 8,000 KM inspection and have it done then.
When I brought it in today, I asked my CSR to have it done. As we had previously discussed back when the incident happened, he confirmed that if no change was neccesary, that I wouldn't have to pay. Fair enough.
So I picked up the car and he informed me that a change was made to the TOE-IN. He told me that the factory specs for the 2 front wheels was +.02 each. My damaged side was at +.04 and the other (undamaged) wheel was at +.03. The rear wheels were fine. So a correction was made and I was billed $125.XX taxes in for the work.
+.01 and +.02 off spec! Is this that much of a difference that it would affect tire wear or drivability? I'm no car expert, so I'm asking any pros here who might be able to say that the correction was justified (or neccesary) or if this was just a cash grab.
Thanks!
