I am super excited to be getting my car sometime in the next 10 days, but I want to be prepared when I go pick it up. Was there anything that you wish you had asked or any features that you wish they would have explained or explained better. I will have a 3 hours drive back home so is there anything that I should bring with me. I have seen some recommendations for different USB drives or shorter Iphone cords. What do people recommend? I have been working my butt off to save for this car and I want my experience with it to be great. I have a Mini which I am selling tomorrow and I have to admit it is pretty bittersweet. I don't want to feel like I made a mistake. THANKS!

Make sure you know what feature you do and don't have... HID, back up sensors/camera, etc... Take music filled usb drive to enjoy on your drive back! get one of the tiny ones from eBay I've had this one since late July and I think it's fantastic.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

What I would ask ....

If you haven't drive a hybrid before, have them carefully go over the start/stop procedure.

Have the go over the door sensor lock/unlock.

If you get the nav have them show you how to use all the features.

Ask them about customization; what you can change and what they can change later: e.g. backup buzzer, seatbelt buzzer.

Ask about the gas gauge. The tank is 11.9 gallons and is is very conservative reserve, you still have about 4 gallons when the yellow "low fuel" light comes on.

Have them show you the "mode" switch on the steering wheel.

If you get "bluetooth", it cones with nav. Have them set up your phone , transfer your contacts and show you how to operate.

If you get leather have them show you how to set memeory setting and the rain sensing wiper.

Have them show you where and how to store your luggage toneau cover.

It is an awesome car ....ENJOY

================

P.S. - The Navigation system is a lot more than just navigation, it you can get it, it s well worth it :)

Also, where is the tilt button on the steering wheel?
the Tilt "button" is actually a lever underneath the steering wheel it is telescoping as well as tilting.

The Mode button is in on the left side of the steering wheel, in the upper left corner. It cycles through the audio sources -- AM, FM 1, FM 2, Sat 1, Sat 2, Sat 3, USB, etc.

The thing to note about the channel select up/down buttons, also on the left side of the steering wheel, is that they cycle between the preset channels, and NOT the whole range of channels in order. Sometimes I think that this is a good thing, sometimes a bad one - but it took me a sec to figure out what was happening.

Get the dealer to show you everything related to the car's displays. There's some very, very cool stuff in there that you might not stumble across on your own.

Also, as you get the time, stroll through the manual on a regular basis. It's roughly the size of the manual for a fighter plane, but as I flip through now and again, I keep coming across useful little tidbits.

Get them to throw in little things that you'll want later. I can think of:

Premium floor mats
Device Holder
Credit card key!
Clear bra (for the door cups at least)..
Why would the dealer, if you've already bought the car, give you these things for free? You should ask before you sign the contract - only then do you have a chance of getting any of this.

This is gonna sound stupid, but where and how do you store the tonneau cover? I've looked under the little storage hatch in the trunk, but don't see how it would fit in there.
You have to take your owner's manual out (there is a slot in the back for it to fit) and then pull up the two side covers. Your toneau bar then will store underneat your back cargo mat. The two side covers fit back down. Believe it or not many Lexus dealers are not aware of this

Let me know if this isn't clear and I will try to explain better ( maybe take some pictures)

Another great idea of you are financing the car is getting pre approve from a bank with low interest. I got pre approve for 2.73% at a bank and lexus finance ended up matching this rate :)

See if you can open up a Lexus credit card at the dealer. They will let you put up to $3000 on the card. That translates into $150 worth of Lexus rewards, which can be used for service, parts, swag, etc.

Both my wife and I did this, so we've got $300 which should be good for 3 oil changes or so. Just make sure you pay off the balance as soon as you get the bill.

Wish I had thought of that. Nice perk.

I agree with you. And the device holder should already be standard in the US. Doubt they'll give them any of those items for free.

Yeah, it's not that easy to do/well designed IMO. My salesman knew about it, but it took him a good 5 minutes to get it in there correctly!
