I would also really like to know how to upgrade and keep the factory head unit. I have the base system and it's terrible!

As a music producer/arranger, I have to say that the CT's sound system isn't have everyone. I find it good for classical and jazz standards, acceptable for rock and country, and terrible for R&B and hip hop. It's not so much the lack of bass, but more on the way they EQed the system.

My last car audio setup was a Forester with a double-din Pioneer deck running factory premium speakers. It had a much better soundstage, and the frequency balance was very versatile. This is the probably the one and only thing I'm disappointed about with my CT.

BTW Dubauskas, badconexun didn't just add a sub/amp, he replaced his front setup as well.
