I'm currently shopping for winter tires, they'll be installed on 16" steel wheels.

My CT has the stock 205/55R16 tire size.

I was wondering if I could go up to 205/60R16 for 2 reasons:

1- they're usually cheaper for the same tire model
2- it would give me a little bit more ground clearance, which is great in winter

bonus: it would slightly correct the optimistic speedometer (diameter would be +3.24% compared to stock)

I was just wondering if anybody tried this tire size, and if there could be something rubbing

Another option would be to choose a slightly narrower tire: 195/60R16 (diameter would be +1.35% compared to stock) Narrower tires are usually better in snow.

Thanks
