Had to go into Houston today for dental appointment and stopped by Westside Lexus on the way home. They have several 2012s from their rental fleet for sale with miles ranging from 9000 to 11,XXX. I ruled out two of them immediately because of color: Black on Black and Siliver with Black interior. No way we're going to have a black car or interior in the Houston area. I drove a White/Ecru car.

Gotta say I loved the car! I'm used to my bride's RX330 and the appointments on the CT were right up there. Very comfortable ride. Quiet. Peppy enough to get me up on the freeway and merge into traffic. Incrediblly tight turn radius. The salesman had me pull into a marked parking space in an empty parking lot, crank the wheel to the stops and go forward. This car circled back perfectly into the same parking spot and I never took the wheel off the stop. Very impressed with that!

I like the joystick/mouse for the Nav display, though I'm not sure why you would need to just the mouse and screen to change the A/C fan when you can just as easily manually touch the fan button on the dash.

Legroom a little tight in the rear seats but we rarely have anyone in the back and if we do... they'll just have to deal. The main question is if my bride will feel comfortable sitting lower to the ground than in the RX, plus giving up a pretty good chunk of cargo space. Overall, I'm a fan. Nice luxury in a very sporty, and economical, little car.

This is not a C-Max forum but I was also favorable impressed with it. Much peppier than the CT200 when you punch it. I think I like the fact that is has a real stick shift and not a little knob on the dash for the transmission. It was extremely quiet and handled great. Very comfortable seats and more legroom in the back seat. Maybe just a wee bit more cargo space but it has NO SPARE TIRE! When I asked the salesman about that he said that it comes with Roadside assist and in the same breath said "And look! It has a 12V receptacle for the back seat!!"

Yes, that will certainly help in the event of a flat tire!

I can get the 2012 CT a couple of thousand less than the loaded 2013 CMAX. It's my bride's call but put your money on the Lexus!

NO SPARE TIRE!
Many non-US CT's (like mine) come without a spare tyre. Instead, you get quite a bit more cargo space, a tiny little 12V compressor and some goo to fill the flat tyre with. You pay extra if you want a full size (heavy!) spare tyre. I passed on that.

Especially since the C-Max isn't getting the advertised mileage. Actually Ford just lowered the advertised mileage from 47 to 43 and they are giving the owners a rebate. Trying to avoid a class action lawsuit like Honda and Hyundai have already had.

It sounds like - the C-MAX fits the size & shape requirement better. However ... There will be a gulf in quality between what Ford give you and what Lexus give you. Ford only rarely make "Special" cars (half mine have been Fords) but they make solid and reliable, if uninspired, cars. Lexus seem to specialise in making cars that are that little bit better. I don't think you'd go wrong with either - but, having owned a CT for 2 years now, I think the Lexus is the Shinier option :)

I hear you and respect you opinion. I have both a Lexus and a Ford and fro that matter a S2000. The ST is the most fun. I still like CT200h and just drove it on a long road trip. (hadn't gotten my out-of-state turnpike pass for the Ford Focus ST or probably would have taken it).

I think we both made a better selection because the pump prices kill.
