Hi all~
I just experienced something weird with my brake last weekend. My hubby was driving my car and when he step on brake, there's a bit of shake to the car and as well as a weird squeaking noise. It happened twice that day and another time the day after. Anyone has similar issue? Is it normal? I got my car in early April and never had this issue before..
Also, when I start my car this morning, I know the engine kicked in but then the car shook quite a bit before it settles back down. Anyone has similar issue as well?
Is it just me being too sensitive??

The car will vibrate a little more on cold days or when the car hasn't been driven in a while and has been parked somewhere cool. This is because the engine revs slightly higher in order to warm up the engine faster, especially during a cold start in cold weather.

The squealing brakes... Does your husband drive more aggressively and brake more aggressively than you? If the brakes are slammed on or enough pressure is placed on the brake pedal during moderate to high speeds, the traction brakes (actual brake pads) may be activated in addition to the regen braking (engine braking which converts energy and stores it into your traction battery) in order to slow the car down faster. Also, the faster you are going and the more you brake to slow down, the louder the high pitched whirring will sound since this is the noise the electrical motors make when they spin in reverse to convert the kinetic energy into power for your traction battery. This is most noticable when going down a steep hill at a moderate to fast pace and then stepping on your brakes to slow down even more.

It's hard to tell what the circumstances were or what the driving conditions were. It's possible that the vibration felt when braking could also be attributed to the car thinking your husband was panic braking and the car activated ABS to pulse the brakes so that the car wouldn't skid due to the brakes locking up. Another reason could be you went through a car wash, or sprayed water on your wheels, or drove through a puddle and got water on your rotors, which could cause some vibration and noise when braking suddenly.

The car vibrated just couple of weeks ago which is we're in summer right now... I am going to bring the car for a check because it did worry me a little bit.

About the break, yes, the several times I heard it was when going slightly downhill but not hard brake.. The lexus service people said I have to do a test drive with them and let them know when the sound comes. hoepfully it's just a common/ normal thing to the car as the car so new. Thanks Matt, your reply is very informative. :)

My car was purchased 2 weeks ago and I am facing the same issue!! The dealer was Lexus West Kendall Miami and the guys over there are reall nice, but informed that it is normal!! This noise started 1 week after I purchased with some 500 miles and it really annoys me!! I think LEXUS should make a recall!!

I received delivery of my CT200h SE-L Premier in November 2011 and ever since have been in diaslogue with Lexus about the high pitched noise from the electric motors that worsens when braking. Its almost like a badly tuned radio!
Has anyone else experianced this as when I took it back to Lexus that promptly told me it was a characteristic of the model and unfortunate that I had "tuned into it"!
