I was driving back from a trip that was 400 miles. I drove most the way 10-15 above the speed limit. And i was getting about 40mpg for the trip. As i was coming back, i filled up in Indiana before hitting Illinois high gas prices and decided to see what the best MPG i could get on this car. I basically watched the meter on AVG MPG to try and keep it near 60. Well, i was pretty impressed at what i came up with, I was going between 60-63 the whole time in a 55 zone and it was 99% highway and in sport mode.

Oh yes, speed matters. Drag force is a function of your drag coefficient and the square of velocity (plus some other things that are basically constants).

Yup, pretty amazing given the EPA ratings for MPG's on this car! Try following behind a tractor trailer for that ride and your MPG's will jump by 4-6 MPG's.

I use to draft big rigs until a big rigs trailer tossed a retread into my grill and hood. It's not a matter of if.

That's no fun! I only did it once, not a regular thing for me, too dangerous and not worth it.
