Soundsystem Upgrades?

Has anyone ventured into the realm of upgrading the soundsystem?

At the very least I'd like to drop in a solid subwoofer, and might even go so far as to put in a nice 7 channel amp and 3-way separates in the front.

It sounds kind of crazy.. he mounted his head unit in the armrest.. not sure I'd want to go that route, but that may be the only route if you want to use an aftermarket head unit
