Scam Alert - [email protected]

Maybe it’s been listed before but beware of some random person suggesting their friend had something you are looking for here on a forum. Only way to contact is via email and they are pretty good at this. I asked for more pictures and they complied but in the end they wanted me to Zelle more money than previously agreed on for shipping overages. I should have just followed my gut, from the get go it seemed sketch. $190 later confirmed.

This has been going on for years. The method hasn't changed. I'm surprised scammers are still doing this. But I guess people keep falling for it. Hopefully you didn't send any money.

What is the account of the person(s) who messaged you so I can ban them?
I did, I was very suspicious of them but today I asked for more pictures of the parts and they sent them. I couldn’t find those same pictures online myself. Even before I confirmed the payment I was still uneasy but it’s been a hard part to find. I haven’t found the original message they sent me on the forum. Let me check my email. To see if they emailed me direct but don’t think so.
I got a message alert telling me someone responded to my post, I read it then emailed that address in the subject. If you google that email, it comes up quite a bit. I wish I had done that before sending the money. I found the alert I got from [email protected]200hforum.com and it says "a82827285 started a new conversation with you at OEM front bumper" I can forward you the email if you like.
Interesting. So that account a82827285 was created October 14th (day after you made your post) and was banned the same day. New accounts aren't supposed to be able to send private conversations right away. And certainly not when banned. Was it a message/email from the 14th? I guess there's nothing else we can do other than have this thread here to warn people. But, they will just make up new emails and fake names.
Agree, and I really felt it was a scam. I got them to call me but it’s a Google number. So even that’s not really traceable.
My intention is to just bring awareness. I have bought things from legit people here. So I was maybe a little confident it would be ok again.

I've got hit with these a few times too. Could we implement a minimum post limit and/or require the user to be signed up for more than 1 month before they can send DMs or post in the Classified?

While this won't completely stop scammers, it will hinder their fckery.

Only an admin has access to those settings, but do believe that those exact rules are already in place after I made those suggestions a while ago. Scammers/spammers still seem to get around all the rules sometimes somehow, so best we can do is always report and ban them... and be careful!
Admins, wya? Can we confirm these settings are implemented? I've had scammers with really low post counts DM me.
I have been luck on this front so far, maybe cause I’m fairly new here as well.
