Satnav Screen Goes Blank

The following has now happened to me twice.

I hear a "snap" and then the Satnav screen goes blank. After a few seconds it comes back to life with the Lexus logo appearing. The navigation screen then appears and I momentarily see a message on the screen asking for the map DVD to be entered and then everything comes back to normal. The second time this occured I was actually having a phone conversation with someone and after the screen came back to normal my conversation resumed as if nothing happened.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Would an error like this appear in the car's diagnostics?

I'm going to be dropping by my dealer tomorrow morning and report the matter and see what they might say.

Never happened to mine. I've had the car for 2.8k miles/3 months
My car is 8 months old and has now down 5500kms.
Thought you might have been seeing the light sensor switching it to night mode but it sounds a lot more sinister than that. Not seen a Nav Computer reboot since I've had my car, looks like the power to it is dropping out long enough to cause a reset. Definitely one for the dealer to see.
Well I dropped into my Lexus dealer this morning and fortunately the service rep. said he was aware of the problem and said they will need to order an replacement DVD.

Is it only the US CT's that use a HDD for the nav unit?

No. Even in a backwater like the UK we get that facility on the Premier model
