Road rash/scratch to front bumper

UGH. I am SUCH a schmuck. I was falling asleep trying to get home, finally got home. Parallel parked on the street in front of the house. Remembered that street sweeping was the next day, so i did a u turn to park on the other side of the street. I was an idiot and didn't want to park in the driveway where the freaking birds would crap on my car (there's a big tree over the driveway). As I made the u-turn, i couldn't see how far the curb was and scraped the car just as I was completing my u-turn. I did it slowly, and had to back up to finish my u-turn once I heard my car start to scrape. Now there's a scrape on the right front of my bumper. It's silver, roughly 1x4 in. this sucks.

Any suggestions anyone?

I has a similar scratch on my camrey se and I was able to brush touch it with paint that was as close to factory color as possible and it it's low enough on the car that most people will see it
>_< That's hurt...
Happened to my other car long time ago as well..

Touch up time for you I guess.
The EXACT same thing happened to me this weekend while attempting to park near the curb. Felt like a total a55hat. Tho my scratch isn't as large as yours but nevertheless I still feel like crap. I have protective film on my ct and that tore right off too.

I bought some touch up paint the next day.
Matt nooooo!! ;-( And you too Lazero ;-( I feel bad for you both.

It will be really difficult to make that look good with touch up paint. I hate to say it, but I think you better go get an estimate from a body shop.

Ditto...........

Touch up paint will not cover this and your eyes will always be drawn to it. In the UK we have mobile repairers that do a really good job and the car never leaves the drive.

HORRORS, Matt...!!!!

Any suggestions anyone?

1. Xanax
2. Maco -- NOT
3. Mortgage house to pay for repair
4. Upgrade speakers so they will be very loud and keep you awake

 CuTie is home in garage 2-day; drove cheap, tawdry 2011 Mustang Conv. to work today. It was feeling somewhat neglected...and as you know it is warm and sunny in SunnySoCal today, so....yee-haw, and it satisfied my desire to rev a big V8 for now....

There. Do you feel better?

If so, send cash so I can buy a hood ornament!

;)
Get body shop to mix u some paint - then buy an airbrush kit and very carefully airbrush the blemish.

You may need to carefully sand with fine grit and prime.

Fortunately the scratch is low down and if u are careful you should be able to minimize the area u need to touch up.

Much better result than brush touch up.
Our bumpers are very low to the ground. We are all going to have to be careful of high curbs.
Word. Be careful ya'll! Bumpers are VERY low to the ground. LOL. I'm getting it fixed tomorrow. It's $175, which isn't too bad considering Lexus Starfire Pearl is a tricolor paint that comes in three layers.

It's gonna get sanded, cleaned, filled, primed, painted x3, polished. Color matched by VIN. Can't wait. Color Creations in Placentia, CA. Will post pictures tomorrow.
Warning to all we Lexus owners!

The curbs, the poles, the trees, the birds!

Matt, Matt, Matt, you are not alone, my friend. We all have to be careful. Now, if any of you are new Lexus owners, perhaps you like I are suddenly noticing that there are a lot of Lexii on the road. Many of them are Starlight Pearl, like Matt's and my CTs. A lunch with my iPhone, I surveyed in my small "Research Park" lot a scholarly stable of Lexussses and easily found two oops examples; both man- and bird-made. I scientifically recorded these events, then turned to the bumper of my OWN sled driven today. This is the one with a REAL engine, a key I put in a lock and twist, and "Microsoft Sync" (which allows me to have bluetooth audio from my iPhone AND, at the same time, use of the phone from a speaker below the convertible cowl).

...Problem is this sinful car gets 13.2 MPG. It's cool, because in almost 8 months since new, the car has traveled only 800 miles. Oh, I am ashamed when I "giggle" over the result of 415 BHP and 390lbs of torque, connected to a 6-speed, a clutch, and throaty duel pipes. No Pearl here; just Performance White. Oy, the guilt!!!! It's recent "brother" was a weenie 2008 red Prius mouse-ie that bent if you leaned on the metal. Notice the Mustang front bumper is spotless, but ALSO notice the deep scrapes on the curb (not by me)...so I park this car and the CT VERY carefully, as it should be.

The aforementioned Prius got scraped badly by a kid in a BMW and I got it expertly fixed by Tustin Collision Center a year or so ago for about $300, but the damage was far worse. I had it done right away because I am a Virgo.

And, yes Matt, The Car Spa is a fabulous wash and shine, but you have to wear expensive shades and stay on your cell doing deals while waiting and also commenting on the chi-chi Newport dogs on leashes who are waiting to get back inside their Bentleys.

UGH. crawforduci, the birds are THE WORST. They seem to have an affinity for white objects, unless I'm just being overly keen on spotting bird droppings on my car. Seems like they always manage to get me, even in a parking garage. WTF.

I might have to check them out, The Car Spa. Hm. On the other hand, I neither own expensive glasses (since I tend to break them easily, CLEARLY I can't have nice things) nor a little fru-fru dog. The little ones tend to be mean and are little anklebiters. RAWR.

Went to Color Creations in Placentia, CA this morning. They just finished and it LOOKS GREAT! Can't even see where the old scratch was.

Definitely recommend them for small scratches and paint work.

That looks amazing... did they repaint the whole bumper or was it just a spot treatment? If the latter, how did they make it blend so well? Pretty amazing.
