I know from two test drives that the CT200h's left-most dash dial turns from a power gauge to a tach when the car is shifted into "Power" mode (or whatever it's called).

Does anyone know whether it's possible to turn off that automatic switch, so that the dial remains a power gauge no matter which mode is selected?

To me, that seems like something that should be be do-able, like turning off the reverse beeping.

So you're saying the dial can be set to function as a power meter all the time, even in Sport mode, right? And that is an adjustment the dealer can make?

Yes you can choose to not use the rev-counter.

You can see all the programmable features here: http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM76004U/pdf/sec_06-02.pdf
On page 697 you see the parameter you are after. The setting can be done by your self, dont need a dealer to fix it :)

YuDanJa: Its programmable like the reverse beeping.. only difference is that the rev beep is a dealer only setting while the taco is a parameter programmable by the owner.

And cruise control has to be off COMPLETELY for the tach to display even in sport mode.

...Its programmable like the reverse beeping...

Oh wow... I wonder why this wasn't in that LPS checklist at the dealership. It isn't because it can be self-customized because the list they gave me to fill out "fully" listed both self and dealer-only LPS settings. I looked through the list over and over...I could not have missed it. Hmm...guess I should never trust dealership-made lists.
