I don't know for sure, but would think it would not do any harm to the car. Could have been worse, you could have walked away w/out pressing the "P" button! :p I've been making it a habit to just hit the Start/Stop button when I get to my destination, as it automatically parks the car & shuts down all in one shot.

The car should have made some beeping sounds as you tried to walk away with key as car is still on.

Might differ on vehicles in North America, mine beeps at me when I get out to open the garage door, since I haven't programmed it into Home-Link yet because remote was out of batteries. I've also noticed this on other Lexus vehicles. There is also a flashing yellow triangle with exclamation mark on the HUD (say if passenger has key on purse and they exit the vehicle)

Haha all though Steve that wouldn't surprise me if you did just drive to end of lane to check the mail :p I've seen you comment about looking for any excuse to drive the CT F-Sport, and I can't blame you. "I'll be back, I'm going to check the mail again!" :p

Haha yes correct loads of milk and bread in the house now !

Just got back from a day in the Yarra Valley (the wine region here) they had an event on (good food and live music) promoting the smaller wineries so that seemed like a very good excuse for a drive part of the promotion was you had to visit at least three of them, about 100km total trip and got 4.6L/100km this was hills and back roads so quite pleased.
Only problem was we have had a lot rain here recently and there was a few unsealed roads (mud basically) so the car came back looking like I had just been in a rally ! So of course I say once we are near home I have to stop to wash the car and the wife says so what you save in fuel you spend on car washing !!!

It definitely beeps. I was nearby the dealership where I've ordered my car from and figured I'd stop by. They showed me to a black on black that recently sold and after I sat in it and was walking away, I heard the beep. The dealer had no idea what it was and figured it was from the lights being left on. I then asked him if the car was on and he said "hmm it is. I wonder how long this has been running..."

I've programmed mine to turn off the lights when I open the door when its turned off, so if I walk by the front and the lights are still on its also a hint that the car is still on if i missed hearing the beeps.

Related question (kind of) on the Dash, my car constantly says "Ready". What does that mean? I think I read in the manuals that "Ready" indicates that the hybrid system is "Ready" but I would think it would go off once you start moving... Are others seeing this also? or am I interpreting what this means wrongly...

On the Start/Stop topic. My salesman said the button has 3 functions.
I don't remember all but press once and ?, second time you can use the radio, third time will start the car. If you press the button upon entering for 3 seconds then it comes on.
Can someone try and see what the first push does.

It is like cars with turn key, it has three-stages. These pushing is without brake peddle being pressed.
1st push - turns on radio, and navigation. Basic functions
2nd Push - turns on headlights, air, and capability of working the windows
3rd Push - Turns it off

If you push button while brake peddle is pressed is turns on the vehicle. And thats when you get the "Ready" saying the vehicle is ON and you are ready to drive. I think its main purpose is because the engine doesn't always have to come on, so its hard to tell if car is ON and ready to be put into gear and ready to drive off.

Here you go man!

Push one time - The clock and radio turn on.

Push 2nd time - It's like turning your key to "accessory" and your dash turns on (tachometer, speedo, fuel, etc.), you can still use the radio, but now you can also turn on the headlights, etc.

Push 3rd time - This does not start the car, it turns the "accessory" off and then the car is completely off. The only way to start the car, you need to depress the brake pedal and then push the button.
