P0328 code after egr cleaning and coolant pump

What’s up gang?

I’ve got a 2011 CT 200H with 147,000 miles.

I’m getting a code P0328 for high voltage to the knock sensor after changing the coolant pump and egr cooler.

I was driving home the other day and the dash lit up with a check hybrid warning and some CEL codes about the coolant pump (P261B).

I was less than 10 miles from home so I let the car rest for 10 minutes, reset the codes, monitored the engine temp with the code reader and drove home slowly.

I ordered a new aisin coolant pump and thermometer. I had already gotten myself a used manifold, egr cooler and new egr valve. This was a perfect time to change the pump and clean the egr system.

So I put in the new pump and thermometer, new pcv valve, put in a clean manifold with all new gaskets, clean egr pipe, new egr valve and clean egr cooler. The cooler and valve I took out were filthy and coolant pump had the telltale crack in the spinning magnet.

Anyway I got everything back in, top off the coolant etc. and fired up the car to let it idle in maintenance mode.

At first it show the P0328 code and C1202 for the power steering and abs system. The C1202 was an easy fix. I had loosened the plug when removing the engine cowl. The P0328 code comes back immediately after resetting. I don’t hear any pinging or knocking. The engine sounds “good”. The car seemed fine on a short drive up the road. I’ve ordered a denso knock sensor. I’ll see if that takes care of it.

Has anyone experienced similar? The knock sensor is right behind the intake manifold. Could I have damaged it while taking it out or putting back the manifold? If swapping the sensor doesn’t do it, could I check voltage to the harness with a multi meter? Will driving with a P0328 code cause irreversible engine wear?

Any thoughts and feedback are appreciated.

thanks

Hello, here is some info for P0328 on CT200h:

First of all I would trie to unplug, clean and plug again the knock sensor connector.

That seems to be the issue. I got the connector off the sensor and sure enough one of the wires has slipped out of the harness. Can anyone point to a good YouTube video of how I might take this apart and reconnect the wire?

You can buy a new connector and wires as a repair kit.

You have to insert a small piece of metal into the connector to unlock the wire and take it out.

Thank you.

I’m going to order the repair kit. In the meantime, I managed to jam the wire in far enough to make a connection and the check engine light is staying off.

To anyone planning on doing an intake manifold cleaning be careful of the knock sensor connector when removing the manifold.

I’ll see if they have one in stock tomorrow. In the meantime I managed to jam the wire in far enough to make a connection again and the engine light stayed off while I took a trip to the store and back.
