Love my CT. First drive out at 50mph I heard a splat and knew a pebble hit my windshield. When I took a closer look I noticed that the pebble had chipped the glass. I have been driving for many years and have never had that happen before. I am wondering if the windshield material is inferior or if the angle of the windshield is not slanted enough to deflect foreign objects.
Needless to say I am in the process of getting the chip repaired or the windshield replaced.

Windshield repair

My insurance company offered a no deductible "repair" on a chipped windshield on my old Honda Pilot. Essentially it is a clear acrylic fill in that looks pretty good. If the chip is not directly in your line of vision you might want to consider a repair over a replacement. There are mobile services that will come to you. I don't believe the glass is inferior. The CT200 is low so a stone that might strike the grill of a higher car ends up smacking the windshield on the CT.

I've had 3 windshield replacements and 1 chip repaired in the last 15 years. It's so bad that my windshield deductible is now $500! Just this past January, I had to pay for yet another cracked windshield (on my Matrix) out of my own pocket. It cost $625 taxes in. Cheaper than going through the insurance considering the increase in premium for the next 3 years - and another black mark in my file!

In Quebec, the insurance company will pay 100% for chip repairs. Changing windshields means you have to pay the deductible.

Windshield chips are completely random, I've had my Prius for 6 years now, it wasn't until last week that I got a big chip on the windshield. Rain + Big rig + crappy CA roads = I guess I've been lucky go to this long. I can't say the same for my bumper, that looks bad!

haha Yep, in Houston almost every car has a cracked windshield. (huge cracks) It's unbelievable how common it is here.

I hate rock chips on the front bumper. So I had a clear bra installed on my CT on the Monday after buying it on Saturday. It saves the bumper completely.

I had a rock hit my last car. I chose to do the repair rather than replace. Depending on how fast you fix it will determine somewhat how visible it remains. The guy did a good job on mine although you could still see it. But it was very minor.

Check with your insurance

Many insurance companies will not "fix" a chip or cracked windshield. Its becomes a safety (liability) for them to do so. I world call and see what their stand is on this type of claim. Most reputable insurance companies will replace the windshield free of charge. Just call and ask. Have a windshield repair man come out to your house and it the job will be done in an hour or so.

When a windshield becomes available Being a new model vehicle I'd bet it will be a dealer order only right now for the glass places. Of course I'd only accept Lexus glass for a replacement anyway.
