I still feel sick !

I was turning at an intersection this morning and got hit in the front by another car turning the other direction.

I reckon he was going to fast for turning but insurance says its 50/50.

27 Years of driving and my first accident

At least I dont loose any no claims bonus or get higher premiums because of my driving history. (They call that Rating One here )

I did drive it home and there were no rattles or noises, it still felt ok to drive and every thing still works no air baggs had gone off it was a low speed accident.

Now my main concern is that they can get the parts !

Hopefully the car will be assessed Monday or Tuesday and will know more then.

If they are going to replace the lamps can you take all the bulbs out so that you can have spares for later down the road?

And make SURE they replace all headlights with OEM. I never thought about it until I had my GS300 fixed after a short talk with a deer. They had to replace one headlight. When I got it home, the new headlight was way dimmer than the other side that was not replaced. I looked at the lens, and it was visibly yellower. I went back to my agent and he got the company to replace it with an OEM headlight (which was three times the cost, hence the temptation for them to use after market).

I will find out but I would imagine they would order the lamp housings and swap over the bulbs, on first looking at the headlights they look ok but up close both tabs on the top that hold the unit on are cracked.

Always hate hearing these things and seeing the damage, especially to a member like you Steve. Glad your okay. Hope your back on the road and fixed soon

Remember Steve, these lamps have taken a good size jolt and their life cycle may have been reduced.
They may work, but for how long?

Oh Nooo! Steve, I feel sick for you!
And a brand new car too. Luckily as others have said it's only a fender bender.
I do feel for you mate, but today's panel beaters do wonders and you won't be able to tell. Just make sure you choose a right place to get your car fixed. This is the most important thing to remember especially if you are an accident virgin.

Some good news on the repair

My insurance company RACV have there own huge repair shop they probably do a good job but it's a bit of a production line but you just take it up there and they sort it all out.

Well I phoned them to book it in and they said they are flat out, it would be next week before they could take it.

I then asked about the fact it's a new Lexus and my concerns and they said there is a more specialist place I could go if I wanted given they are busy and they put me through passing on my details.

I took the car up there and when I arrive it's right behind the other big Lexus dealership here and they are the Lexus approved workshop (the staff even wearing Lexus jackets and overalls)

When I asked them about how they will go with the CT he said don't worry there have been 3 before you and one was worse than this !!!!!!!

The only down side is RACV have to send an approver to look at the car to give approval before they can start and that won't be until next Tuesday.

But I am much happier leaving the car with them to be fixed.

I will let you know how it goes
