Land vehicle Vehicle Car Motor vehicle Automotive design

Hey everyone, just got my CT yesterday - work 50 miles from home, so it was time for a fuel efficient car. I'm thrilled with this car so far. Drove many hybrids at dealerships and most (that got comparable mileage) felt cheap, tinny, noisy, etc., but the CT actually feels like a luxury car. So far couldn't be happier.

Congrats on the purchase! I've only had mine for 2 weeks. Coming from a larger SUV (Infinit FX) it took about a week to get used to it, now I love it...especially 40+mpg!!!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm used to big cars too. Traded in a Dodge Magnum, and before that drove a Deville. Wife's car which I occasionally drive is an STS. It was just getting ridiculous given my long commute - was spending $400 a month on gas, not to mention the environmental effect. I think the lower power will be the part that will be weird at first (my only small car in recent years was a supercharged SLK230 so small was ok). But after ruling out the biodiesel VWs, I was committed to getting a hybrid with 40+ mpg, so power is the tradeoff I've agreed to make.

Thanks - so far I'm the same way; the geek in me is suddenly much more interested in the hybrid technology and various associated metrics/gauges than the driving experience, though I imagine once I'm more familiar with everything that may change a bit. It feels good to be a little closer to the cutting edge while reducing oil dependency as well (though my boss just got a Tesla last week, so after driving in that a few times I'm under no illusions this is THE cutting edge). Still, for me I think this is the perfect car.

Congrats on your purchase and I couldn't agree with you more. I too now commute close to 100 miles per day and the gas savings alone are well worth it. It may not be the fastest out there, but it does have some spunk. I was at a stop light and a Mazda 3 5-door came up on me inching at the light. I threw it into sport mode (I am usually on ECO) and I took em. At the next light he rolled down his windows saying he couldn't believe my car was a hybrid. After brief conversation, I drove off with a BIG smile :D.

Thanks, and yeah, I'm finding that too as I drive it more. I did one day so far all on sport mode, driving aggressively, and have been pleasantly surprised with the pickup! For a hybrid providing this kind of mpg, I am beyond satisfied with the power thus far. It's not like driving the STS or anything, but it's honestly not really all that sluggish either. I do find sport mode makes a difference over normal.
