LED Dipped Beam Bulbs

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been discussed in numbers but I'm struggling to find threads regarding what I'm interested in.

I'm looking for information on swapping my normal halogen bulbs to LED bulbs. I think HIDs would be too bright and blind drivers so going down the LED route. I'm after an OEM look too so I think LEDs are a good choice.

My questions are:

1) Are they easy to fit? Are they a straight swap and 'plug and play' no other ancillaries needed?
2) Do you need to mod the dust cover, remove it or anything like that?
3) What power would people recommend? Do you think 35w per bulb is sufficient and not too bright?
4) Would you recommend buying the fan-less bulbs and go for more of a heat sink kind?
5) Do the LEDs bring up bulb issues on the dash, i.e. need a resistor?
6) Do they work fine with the auto-light feature?
7) As I'm looking for an OEM look, do you recommend 4300K or 5000K? I definitely don't want a blue tinge
8) What bulb size do I need?

Sorry for the questions but they're not exactly cheap so want to make sure I purchase the right ones.

Many thanks!

Myanswers are:

1) Are they easy to fit? Are they a straight swap and 'plug and play' no other ancillaries needed?
Yes, straight swap.

2) Do you need to mod the dust cover, remove it or anything like that?
To my knowledge, neither low, high, or fogs have any form of dust covers, so this question is void.

3) What power would people recommend? Do you think 35w per bulb is sufficient and not too bright?
You would be fine. Link here to educate yourself a little on led bulbs and the advancements:

4) Would you recommend buying the fan-less bulbs and go for more of a heat sink kind?
I had the ones with the fan first before, no real issues, but opted for the fanless recently. Mine were all purchased off of Amazon at roughly 60-70/pair. I currently have all fanless for low, high and fog beams.

5) Do the LEDs bring up bulb issues on the dash, i.e. need a resistor?
No issues, no error codes. No resistor needed.

6) Do they work fine with the auto-light feature?
Yes they do, my 2012 always has auto-light selected.

7) As I'm looking for an OEM look, do you recommend 4300K or 5000K? I definitely don't want a blue tinge
I have 5000k and it's a pure "white" look. If you want the halogen color go 4300. The projector concentrates the color a little bit more in the center. Either one would be fine for you, personal preference. Keep in mind our halogen projectors are meant for halogen, not exactly hid or led, but I knew this when installing.

8) What bulb size do I need?
H11 for both low beam and fog bulbs. High beam is H9. See below for reference:

I hope this helps.

Thank you. Could you please send me the link to your LEDs?
