I decided to just install an aftermarket HID Kit into my ct200h

Package Content

-2 Slim Ballast
-2 6000k H11 Bulbs
-2 Metal Mounting Plates
-6 Screws and Nuts

Time to install: 30mins -1.5hrs

***PLEASE READ*** REGARDING POLARITY!
Red wire (Xenon Kit) ---> Purple wire (
Harness for OEM bulb)
Black wire (Xenon Kit) ---> White/black wire (Harness for OEM bulb)

Installed the mounting plates

Driver side was mounted on a screw holding the fuse box directly behind the driver side headlight

Passenger side will be mounted by the container that holds the pink liquid. You can unbolt the 2 screws that hold the container to tuck the wires behind (underneath) the containers (shown in the second pictured below)

Overall, satisfied with a $60 kit with lifetime warranty on both bulbs and ballast. Although, the periphery illuminance could be better, $60 versus $1200 LED option justifies, in my opinion, the reduced performance.

Wow, nice work. I had no idea an HID kit was that cheap, that's awesome. Lights look great! Wow, so the HID lights now make your LED's look a bit yellow?
Hey Gurl, why did you have to have your bulbs changed already?
To the OP - hybrid:

Just got a call that my car likely wouldn't be here until October (I was originally told July). Apparently the one part of my order that was holding this up was the LED headlamps. After seeing this thread, you just saved me about $1,200 and 3 months on my delivery! I can still likely be in my CT by July. Sorry, no, I can't share the $ you just saved me with you! ;)
I noticed the OP went with 35W option for the Slim kit, but others are going with 55W. I see the light output is different for the two, but does anyone know if the 35W one is safer for the CT? I noticed the Phillips kit is one option only (35W).
On the fence...

So I'm on the fence regarding which kit to get. DDM Tuning's Slim HID or the Philips HID kit (they only come with 35W and 4300K or 6000K), I would go with 4300K to avoid the annoying blue hue.

I just ordered PIAA 2500k yellow fogs thru Amazon, which costs $65, free shipping. I'm just trying it hard to justify spending LESS $ for an HID kit, when the H11 bulb is used for both applications. I understand DDM's kit comes with a lifetime warranty, but I've also read dealing with them is a pain, should you need to replace anything, and I also want to avoid start-up and flickering issues.

Yes, the Philips kit is $180 + $20 for shipping and only comes with a 2-year warranty, but it just seems like a better product and knowing the Philips name here in the US kind of puts my mind at ease. I don't mind spending the extra dough on these, knowing my car will be costing me $34K, don't know that a $55 kit makes sense to me.

Can someone shed some light on this (no pun intended) or let me know their thoughts before I make the purchase?

Thanks!

Damn, nobody else chimed in on this. Anyone else on here contemplating these or maybe even the 35W version? I just found these two (2) reviews on a Honda Accord forum, regarding the 55W slim kit, really doesn't help convince me to try out the Slim Kit! I suppose I could try it and if I don't like it, it's only $60 out the window, right?

Here are the 2 reviews:

i have had ddm in my housing for over a year, it was plug and play. after about 2 or 3 months of use it began to flicker. i installed a relay harness about 6 months after, but it still flickers, guess the damage has been done. but i also had the 55w version.

Had mine for about 6 months as well. Beside the passenger side not fully coming on, but usually solved by just turning off and on the headlights, it's been great. I've installed 4 kits and all of them love them. I would just go with the 35watt and a relay kit.

Correction - this stuff is on my wife's car !
Ha! :)
Thanks Sloppy2nds!
Looks like I'll try out these HID Slim Kits by DDM Tuning. I just ordered the 35W kit with 5000k bulbs, as I don't want the slightest hint of blue in the lights, as they're so obnoxious on the road. I went with the 35W just to play it safe and not overheat/mess up the housings.
I believe DDM carry the 35 watt kit here in the US so delivery should be fast.
The 55 watt kit is shipped dIrectly from China and took 10 days to arrive.

It is the ballast that controls the wattage. I have read on several sites that the bulbs supplied are common to both wattage ballasts only the temp. changes based on what you specify
Are you confirming the 35W will burn cooler than the 55W version?

Shipping costs took me kind of surprise (I think it was $15)!?
I want in for the install!
Get your damn car man!!!! Ha ha. If you really wanted to meet up for this, I might be open for that. Where are you located again? I'm putting in my Piaa 2500K Plasma Ion yellow fogs this weekend (Oh yeah, they cost me more than the HID's)....
Me too. When I found out DDM is a US-based company, I felt a little better about their lifetime warranty. And then when I found out I can drive up the road to pick up the kit, I was sold.

I'm going with the 35W and 6000K. Pick 'em up at lunch. Install tonight.
Great, let us know how the install goes and how you like them! Very convenient that you live in the San Diego area! My aunt lives there, but that doesn't count.

Wow, cannot believe it, but I got home yesterday and the package notice was left in my mailbox (I hate it when they won't drop a package & then you need to go to the local post office to pick it up ). I guess I'll have to leave work a bit earler to get there before they close today :).

I suppose that's why shipping costs $15 for this thing, I ordered it 6/13 and it came directly from China & was at my door step on 6/16! I noticed it arrived in NY, NY, so that helps living on the east coast. Happy Fathers Day to me! :D
I used my HID's for the first time since the install, as I left my house pretty damn early this AM to get to work and it was still dark out. My drivers side ballast didn't fire up when I left my house and I turned the switch on & off a few times. When I drove away, I only had one light but then eventually it turned on.

Hopefully this isn't a permanent thing, so I'll give it some time & check again. I hope to try these lights again when it's fully dark out, as I wasn't overly impressed with the light output with the 35W option...though it wasn't fully dark when I left, so that could have a lot to do with it. I was very impressed with the color & vertical cut-off on these though! :)

Dgstan - Gave you driven your car in pitch black and how was your illuminance? Worst case, if I'm not happy w/ the output, I'll go ahead and get the 55W kit once I get some more positive feedback from others on here about that kit. Then I'll have some spare HID bulbs to use if needed :).

I noticed on my wife's car one time the driver's side HID bulb didn't fire up. Just another piece of info we have the light switch set on auto, so the lights come on with low ambient light.

The not firing doesn't appear to be a frequent event but it should never happen.

To resolve the issue I ordered the relay wiring harness from DDM so the HID's will have a continuous strong 12 v source and the feed to to oem connector will just operate the relay feeding 12 v to the HID's.

The harness is only $15 so we'll see if this fixes the problem.
Thanks man. Would you mind adding to your install post, some pics of that install and let us know your impressions? Thanks a bunch!

Jim
The light output is excellent. Wait until it's totally dark and I think you'll be happy.
Thank you, that makes me feel better.

Yahtzee! You're right, drove last night in the dark, very impressed! :)
Did you have any problem getting the HID bulbs out of the protective plastic housing they ship in? I try and unscrew the dang things and they just spin in the housing. I'm ready to take a hammer to the things.
If I recall correctly, hold onto the base of the bulb & then spin off the plastic housing. I left the small plastic ring on there when I installed mine, didn't seem to be an easy way to remove that unless you clip/cut it off?
Ok, now you had me wondering. I just went to the garage where I have my OEM lights in a box, with those plastic housings.

Hold the base of the plastic (the wider end) and then spin off the thinner end (counter-clockwise)....Voila!
