hi, been searching through this forum to see if there are any mods in terms of performance (next to nil)

but saw a bunch of posts back a few years ago with people adding ingen short ram intakes to their CTs, but no recent posts.

i figured that after all these years there should be some clear verdict by now. i was wondering what kind of difference it makes by adding on the ingen intake and is it worth it?

My understanding (and this is including responses over at priuschat) that it's really just there for noise.
General consensus is that it makes the intake noise a little ballsier under WOT.

I haven't read any negatives though, so while it might not do much, it's not going to hurt anything (unless you spray the cone at the carwash).

any idea if it's easy to install on your own assuming that you are a total n00b and just follow what it says in the instructions?

i have a mild to lukewarm interest in installing this if it's not too much work and wont permanently damage anything and can easily swap back to stock parts if i need to do any warranty work

Intakes are a piece of cake. The CT looks particularly easy, since the throttle body is right in front. It'll probably take you longer to remove the stock airbox than it will be to put the intake in.

I'm tempted myself just to eliminate that bulky airbox, but I wish the price point was $50 less, since it really doesn't provide a significant bump in performance (I think someone here had the car on the dyno after the Injen install and it bumped up 2-3 HP, which is really negligible)

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about warranty work. Installing aftermarket intake will not void a warranty unless the part in question caused a failure.

if the intake allows better throttle getting up to highway speeds and keeping up that speed (biggest drawback on the drivetrain) under normal mode or sport mode, then i think it serves the purpose

Pick up is slightly better. Sound makes the car sound way way better. Doesn't sound like the car is struggling up a hill anymore. Negative? To me I feel like I've lost some mpg on average. 1-3.

This is definitely true. The entire process took me about an hour including setup and cleanup. 2/3 of that time was getting the stock components out and 1/3 was putting the new intake on.
