I was asked by a few of you on the forum about this so I thought I'd start a new thread here. Yes, I too was one of the complainers about the premium sound system on the car. For $1100 more, I expected more. I also am an owner of a 2011 GX 460 with the Mark Levinson sound system so I had a trained ear for something better from Lexus.
I do want to state for the record I do LOVE the mids, highs, and the overall clarity of the premium sound system. It's just when my VW rental Jetta was packing more bass than my Lexus....I had a problem!
The solution...CompVT | KICKER ! The best way to describe this little speaker is that it packs a punch! I replaced the CT's stock 6.5 " sub with this small kicker sub and ran a small 175 watt amplifier to the speaker. I do not know what the CT's stereo amplifier is packing. I will update this thread when I meet with my dealer tomorrow. He should have the specs on it. It could be possible that just merely replacing this speaker with the Kicker could be enough to GREATLY enhance the overall sound of the car. It's quite possible though the amp isn't powerful enough to give the speaker enough juice. I just don't know what the Lexus CT's amp wattage is. Keep in mind it's feeding 10 speakers!
The speaker cost me $59 out the door. I did not need a box, or anything special. I highly recommend this little bundle of joy to anyone looking
to add some more oomph to their system.!!
