I was asked by a few of you on the forum about this so I thought I'd start a new thread here. Yes, I too was one of the complainers about the premium sound system on the car. For $1100 more, I expected more. I also am an owner of a 2011 GX 460 with the Mark Levinson sound system so I had a trained ear for something better from Lexus.

I do want to state for the record I do LOVE the mids, highs, and the overall clarity of the premium sound system. It's just when my VW rental Jetta was packing more bass than my Lexus....I had a problem!

The solution...CompVT | KICKER ! The best way to describe this little speaker is that it packs a punch! I replaced the CT's stock 6.5 " sub with this small kicker sub and ran a small 175 watt amplifier to the speaker. I do not know what the CT's stereo amplifier is packing. I will update this thread when I meet with my dealer tomorrow. He should have the specs on it. It could be possible that just merely replacing this speaker with the Kicker could be enough to GREATLY enhance the overall sound of the car. It's quite possible though the amp isn't powerful enough to give the speaker enough juice. I just don't know what the Lexus CT's amp wattage is. Keep in mind it's feeding 10 speakers!

The speaker cost me $59 out the door. I did not need a box, or anything special. I highly recommend this little bundle of joy to anyone looking:D to add some more oomph to their system.!!

What brand/model amp? Was it easy to access the stock sub and find a place to hide the new amp? I should get my CT this week and this is something I'll do immediately. Thanks for the post!

Just throwing this out there. I had some of the original Aura bass shakers (juniors not the pros) in my S2000 (bolted to the bottom of the driver and passenger seats) and they did a pretty good job of adding the 'sense' of a real nice low-end to that cars simple system.

I have no experience with these, but for the price - it might be something to experiment with...

The amp is really small and slim it's a Blaupunkt. I put real good sticky Velcro on the bottom of the amp and stuck it next to the rear speaker in the trunk. It's seems to hold like glue to the cars carpeted sidings in the trunk area. I'll post some pics tomorrow!

Your pics wouldn't happen to include snapshots during the installation process, would it? I am thinking of adding an amp+sub someday...wondering which one of the wires inside is the remote lead.

A bit premature maybe, but I just picked up one of the Kicker CompVT 6.5" for my soon to arrive CT. $60 out the door and will probably power it with a Kenwood KAC-1502S amplifier ($90). It's a bit bigger than my preferred Blaupunkt THA275PNP, but the Blaupunkt is $160 and they both deliver 150w RMS. Hopefully my car comes tomorrow!!!

Thanks for sharing your setup CTSurfer!

I'm curious if anyone here will first install the Kicker sub w/ factory AMP and post their impressions. Then hood their amp up and post those impressions. Just a thought!

Without the Premium Audio

Where exactly is the sub for cars with the Premium Audio package? This is the one option I wish I'd gotten and am wondering what kind of upgrade I can do aftermarket to get better sound.

Left rear panel in rear cargo area. I think someone had posted a picture in another post.

Hey guys sorry I've been tied up with life! My car is back at the dealershipin Newport Beach Ca for some paint work, LoJack install, and bamboo trim install.

When I get it back I'll post some pics. I'll try to post pics for all of my upgrades. My HID lights just arrived today as well. My shark fin antenna should be here soon too.

Glad to hear you picked up the same speaker Badconexun!

I just installed a custom audio system in my 2013 F Sport Ultra White: Infinity Kappas; 2 - 12" JL Audio W3's; and JL Audio Amps. I decided to take out my spare tire because I have the Lexus towing service, AAA, and my insurance for towing service. I rather have an awesome system to listen to and have the same truck space. So I had BP Audio Sound make a custom box where the spare tire use to be. Wow, it turn out great. It is way better than the Premium Sound System. When I saw the stock speaker. I was very disappointed that I paid $1350 for that piece of Sh*t (stock pioneer speaker). Well worth every penny I spent extra.

A subwoofer does not equate to good sound. You may have ML in GX460 but I seriously question your audiophile expertise.
