Has anyone replaced or thought about replacing the CT's shift knob yet? I've never replaced one before.
Are all aftermarket knobs a universal fit? I never see anything in descriptions about thread sizes.

Hmm... I guess no one's tried yet?

Well, I'm willing to give it a shot. Perhaps some suggestions? Which style should I get?

I was thinking like the plain 'stick' style (mid, top row) or ...what appears like a lightbulb (leftmost, bottom row). By the way, I'm not looking only at Razo products (this is the only image I could find with different styles of shift knobs). I saw some Momo's that look pretty nice.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the shift knob on the CT isn't even close to a standard shift knob for non-hybrid car. I doubt those above will fit on the CT, but that's just my educated guess.

I saw a thread on here or clublexus.com where someone was trying to replace their CT knob with the one from the Prius, but don't know where that landed.

The "stick" on our CT's are pretty thin, aren't they? I was thinking that they'd come close to a Prius stick size, though. I've seen pics on Priuschat and it looks pretty similar. In one thread a person did install a "Type S" shift knob to his Prius. He said the knob ("like the Momo's") comes with various sized adapters and set screws are used to secure them in. So, there still may be hope.
Speaking of "hope"...can a Prius owner on this forum confirm our gear shift sizes are a close match??

Looking at it close up, the CT's stick is extremely skinny. Probably skinnier than a Prius. Wish I had a caliper to measure the diameter. I think I might've saw somewhere that says those adapters only go as small as 8mm(?).

Another thing that got me concerned is I noticed these aftermarket shift knobs tend to be dense in weight and our CT sticks are very flimsy. I literally flick the gears with my index finger with minimal effort. I'm wondering if these knobs could have enough weight to actually move the stick around if we hit a bump. The lightest knob I've seen was 100 grams.

*shrug* Oh well...the research continues. I wonder where I can find an HS250h knob? Not exactly sporty or fancy, but...looks nicer, in my opinion.

JHC Dude. What seems to be the problem with the shifter on the CT? It's nice - much nicer than what I've got in my 2005 Prius.

After a trek all the way down the driveway, it looks like the shaft size between the two is the same. However, the CT's knob sticks out beyond the dash so you can clearly see the shaft. On my 2005 Prius, the knob rides right up against the dash, so the actual shaft is hardly visible. I don't think this would cause a problem swapping the knobs, but I imagine a Prius knob would stick out further than you would like and would completely ruin the aesthetics in the entire vehicle, forcing you to go buy a CR-Z.

:D Don't worry. I promise I won't trash the vehicle if the new shift knob turns out to be ugly. I'll just put the original back on.

Anyway,...yes, it looks much nicer than a Prius shift knob, but I still don't quite like the looks of it overall. Looks like the cleaning rods I use for firearms.

And, thank you...for taking the long trek to your driveway and confirming the shafts are the same size.

Seriously, the two shafts look to be the same diameter (and this is after a week of studying shafts - Anthony Wiener, anyone?).

Like I said before, the Prius knob in butted up against the dash, while the CT knob sticks out (Anthony Wiener, anyone?).

And thanks for having a good sense of humor...

Changed the shift knob 3X

I changed my shift knob 3 times and like the last one. The first two I bought and did not like them. The first one had LED lights that were too bright. I bought a second one that was nice black leather but looked a little too big. These all come with an insert that will fit the smaller diameter. The last one is home-made. I had a nice mini baseball and I painted it black and drill a hole in it and screwed it on.

That's a pretty nice size. And the "ball end" look doesn't seem too bad. Now I'm wondering how it'd look with a black arcade style joystick ball at the end.

Are people still trying to do this? Maybe if I buy a CT.

I work at a CNC machine shop and I am already pushing automotive parts to the owners, I've known them for over 30 yrs. Aluminum and Titanium are our main materials could also do some plastics, like delrin. Would assume almost everybody knows the shift pattern so maybe a unique symbol?

Right now I'm trying to get them to make battery tie-downs. These things sell for $60+ and we have excess material just waiting to be cut for these things.

Would have been neat if Lexus offered inserts to place in shifter where chrome piece goes. Similar to how you can easily pop off part over glove box and replace it with a different look.
