After reading the discussions regarding "why the short 2011 model year?" and the "Sound Emitting Effect" threads, I thought what if, in order to get the CT to market on time, Lexus decided to release the car as a "2011" model because the government requirement for the "sound emitting effect" applies to 2012 models and beyond?! If Lexus wasn't ready to implement the "sound emitting effect" by March, or had already built some cars before the new legislation went into effect, they could get around the requirement by initially releasing the CT as a 2011 model! Once they had everything in place to manufacture CT's WITH the "sound emitting effect", they could start building the 2012's! That way, no delay in the CT's launch!! :)

This is all conjecture on my part, but I thought that it was pretty clever of Lexus if it was, in fact, true!

Sound emissions are not mandated yet in the US.
Well, I guess that I should have taken 10 minutes to research the legislation on Wikipedia before I spent the time writing this! As it turns out, The U.S. Department of Transportation has 18 months (from January 2011?) to study, establish standards and set requirements for "the sound". So, in the words of Emily Litella, "Never Mind!" :D
