Ok...so after a couple of weeks of research, I decided to go with the kit below to hardwire my Valentine One via the Auto-Dimming/Compass Mirror power source.

Valentine Hidden Mirror Direct Cord Kit - "Be Safe with Safe-N-Sound1.com"

I first had my windshield visor area tinted at a local tint shop..... legally. This will help hide the V1 from novice thieves. Anyway, I ordered the kit above and it arrived in 2 days....extremely fast shipping. After allowing the tint to cure a few days, I began and finished my install last night. I first removed the plastic shroud around the mirror wiring and disconnected the connector. I used my voltmeter to find which wire powered-on with the ignition on. On my CT, it turned out to be the orange wire. The black wire with a white stripe is ground. I pushed the power (red) wire of the fused harness into the back of the orange wire and the ground (black) wire into the back of the black/white wire and secured them with 2 zip ties as seen in the first picture. I then plugged the connector back together and tested the V1.....worked perfectly. I took the new V1 harness and fuse and tucked them up into the headliner out of sight leaving just the connector to the V1 sticking out. I replaced the plastic shroud, placed my V1 where wanted it, and plugged it in. I think it turned out pretty nice besides the tint not covering the V1 like I had intended. The tint does cover the suction cups. In TX, the windshield tint can only come down by 5 inches. I do wish the tint came down another inch or so to cover the V1 entirely....still debating on getting the tint redone and have it illegal by an inch.....

Very clean, easy install....definitely recommend going this route if you are planning on hardwiring your radar....let me know if you have any questions!

Sorry for the crummy pics...used my cell phone from 2008....so outdated....haha!

I am going to go out on a limb here. These Hybrids aren't exactly speed demons.

I got my V1 hardwired too with the help of my brothers and the kit it came with.
For a car that's half battery powered, it was hard to find a ground that worked.. don't know why, we tried grounding it to a nut that already had a ground, and it didn't work. We used the red wire but not with the rear view mirror as it was one of the only ones without constant power. Ended up hardwiring via Fuse Box like in some IS's. Meh, it works.

I'll bet you that you can't get a ticket in your CT.

Every speeding ticket that I've ever gotten has been on a road with a speed limit of 35mph or less. They've always been on roads where the speed limit was inappropriate for the road (which was why the cop chose that spot to catch people speeding. In every case, I was driving less than 55mph when I got pulled over. Since getting a radar detector, I've never been pulled over for speeding.

IMO, a radar detector is well worth it, no matter how fast your car will go.

That makes sense to be Bill.

Bill,
I couldn't have explained it any better....it does not matter how fast your car is or it's top speed, it matters that the vehicle can go over the posted speed limit. Since I drive about 900-1000 miles a week in unfamiliar counties, I tend to miss changes in speed limits on occasion and my V1 has saved me some would be tickets. Boy, do those little counties like to drop from 65 to 45 quickly....

FYI - You can just buy a piece of telephone cord from Radio Shack for like $2, cut it to length, and use that for power. The only tricky part is that the voltage needs to be the opposite of the normal convention - i.e. black gets the power, red gets ground. And you're protected by a fuse already - the rear view mirror power supply is fused.

I hardwired my V1 in my Legacy GT, and will be doing it in my CT shortly.

It doesn't matter what make or model...but until CA law makes them illegal, all my cars have hardwired radar detectors by default. Speed is relative, and a detector only has to work once in its entire lifespan to pay for itself.

FYI...I have extended personal ownership experience with the following...
Escort 8500
Valentine-1
Beltronics RX65
Beltronics Pro 300
Escort 9500ix

While the V1 was fun, it's no longer my favorite.
