Hello BMOY88,
First I want to make sure you know that there is 2 displays for fuel: one is restarted every time you fill up with a new gaz tank: this is the one where you see the line going up or down depending if you push on gas more on less.
The other one is the one that has not changed since the beginning, unless you've restarted it by pressing display for about one-2 seconds while you are at that display.
For instance, let's say you've done 6l/100km on the first 3 tanks, let's say 2000km, and you've started to improve on the actual tank to 5.1. Well the display won't change much since you have 3 loads at 5.9 and let's say half one at 5.1.
So, first, make sure you watch the display that changes everytime you fill up, or the other one but push display button for 2 seconds, to restart it.
As for driving methods and actual fuel comsumption, My car is now close to 5000km.
If you go on highways, no wind with or against, and drive at 115-120km, consumption will be around 5.8 to 6L.
If you are at 100km, consumption will be under 5L.
I drove a few times to Quebec city(2hours on highway) with or against some strong winds, consumption will vary easily by .5L.
If it's cold outside and you do very short city trips(less then 5-10km) consumption will be over 5, because for 5 minutes, the motor is running to get itself to proper heat.
On this tank, I've been carefull and made sure I was driving at 100km on highways. I will fill up tomorrow and I'm at 4.8l right now. I could be at 4.6 but the last few days were made of very short trips, which didn't help the economy. Half way thru my tank, I was at 4.5l, driving somewhat carefully, but not getting completely crazy with fuel saving.
Having said that, pulse and glide is the way to go when you can. In the city, you try to get to the speed you want, and then you depress the pedal to get in EV only(not the EV button), which you'll see with when the EV green light is on. Then make sure the EV light is on(press on pedal just enough so the pointer is halfway maximum(at ECO).

I'm french so, sorry if my explanations might not be so clear!
Feel free to ask any questions if it's not clear.
Ciao!
This is the way to maximize consumption.

On the video, the guy goes a notch higher with his plus and glide technic: he pulses, then decelerates to shut everything down, and then reaccelerate gently so only EV mode is on.
I don't go as crazy. as somebody said, I wouldn't want to follow a person that goes from 0 to 70km then to 35 then to 55!

Hi Claude,

I did the reset like you suggested and managed to get my average down as low as 5.0 (very briefly - les than a minute). I am now at 5.2. Thanks.

Also tried the pulse and glide. Kept looking in the rear view mirror to see that no one was closing in on me. It is effective, but my wife said it was making her nauseous (also called me cheap)!
:D
It's kind of a habit that doesn't show after some practice!
And if we bought Hybrid cars, it's because we ARE cheap!:D

Perhaps its the weather, but when i picked up the ct end of sept, it showed 5.4L. But recently i've been getting 6.0L in ECO mode.. if thats the case, might as well constantly drive in Sports mode =\
Don't worry, it's the weather. You'll even go down to around 5l in april-may.
