Front Passenger Door Handle Insert Coming Off

I know this has been posted as I have had my CT since June of 2011 as new. Now I have over 40K miles and am taking it in for an oil change and wanted the dealer to fix that pesky door handle insert that always pops off. My dealer on the phone kind of acted like they knew nothing about the problem (probably because all the later year CT's were corrected for this prolem). Anyway, what is the fix for my car...new clips or do they just replace the whole insert with a new one...and, if anyone has a part number for this fix please let me know..thanks in advance.

I had mine replaced under warranty with the same issue about 4 months ago. They replaced the entire door handle cover as the clips are built in and not separate pieces.

I just called my dealer, made a service appointment, showed them the issue and the ordered the new part.

Wow. Thought everyone had their 11's fixed by now. Don't forget to also get the centre console button replaced and the satnav DVD updated. TSBs out on all of them. By the way, is your dash rattling? Problem with the 11's but haven't found a TSB yet.

I have no dash rattling at all in my 11. What's the sat nav dvd issue?

Satnav system intermittently shuts down and reboots. Can't find map message comes up. Problem was with the DVD. DVD will be updated with new operating system but maps remain same as purchase year. No free upgrades unfortunately,

My dash doesn't rattle but it does "pop" loudly when it's hot and I cool the car, or when it's really cold and I warm the car up. What rattles like crazy is my passenger seat when no one is sitting in it. I think it has something to do with the adjustment handle on the side. I'm going to bring it up to Lexus next time I have it in for service.
It's interesting you say that. I don't here the rattles when my wife is in the passenger seat. Just thought it was the noise coming from her masking the car's noises.
Nope there is at least one other thread on here (not too much info though) about the passenger seating rattling when empty, so I guess it's a known issue. I've got a few more months until my 40K service and then I will have them fix it for sure.

what are the TSBs? Pohanka Lexus is playing stupid and claims to not know.
I'm having the door handle cover replaced next week at my dealer under warranty. I told them what the issue was and they knew about the TSB right away. :)
This is an old thread, but it was helpful to me.

An internet search on this problem yields this forum discussion, and others. The following article from cars.com shows the problem continued for years, even after this thread was started: https://www.cars.com/articles/2011-2015-lexus-ct-200h-door-pull-issue-1420683170804/

I called the main Lexus number (1-800-255-3987), explained the problem and also informed two of their phone representatives that this was a known design issue. They claimed not to have any knowledge of this issue, and said they couldn't do anything, unless I was willing to drive to a Lexus dealership and have them inspect it. They didn't care that I could give them the TSB reference No. SB0037-22R2.

Instead of wasting my time driving to the dealership (45 minute drive, plus unknown waiting and insincere discussion time), I just bought the part for $35 off of eBay. It was delivered earlier today and snapped in place with no problem.

I recommend doing as I did. You can search on eBay (or elsewhere) for Lexus part number 74645-76010-C1. It might be described as a "front right door interior trim cover," or as a "door assist grip cover." The new part is built with thicker clear plastic clips, which replaced the flimsy and bendable metal clips, which used to pop out. I paid a total of $35 with shipping, and received it in under a week. (You might find it cheaper?) Now I'm happy, because I no longer will be embarrassed, driving a car that falls apart whenever my passenger shuts the door.

Very disappointed with Lexus regarding this issue. Clearly, they know about the problem (it's all over the internet), but their representatives pretend there's nothing wrong.

My car is a 2013 model, bought "certified pre-owned" from the local Serramonte dealership (northern California) in 2015. I have been snapping the original piece back in, repeatedly, since I purchased it.

How do you remove the passenger grip though? I just bought one to replace the worn on on my ct, and wondering if the entire door panel needs to be remove? I am pulling on the grip but it's not coming off at all on my 2016...

EDIT: Got it off. It was REALLY on there. See pictures below of my handle and what looks to be the revised handle.
This video helped a lot with how it's attached and angled on.

I was actually going to put the new handle on but I'm going to have to remove the door panels here shortly anyways because I'm replacing the weather stripping on the bottom of the door the belt molding I guess is what it's called with the Chrome piece. My rubbers all faded or worn out I guess guessing cuz it was in a Florida car so the sun just beat on it, so I need to order all four pieces. I already ordered the rear door upper chrome molding that loops around the rear window because that was also faded and no matter what I did it wouldn't come clean so there were cheap at 70 bucks each. I believe him would have to drill out the rivets and then use the Toyota rivets to put it back in place.

That will be a project for the spring though to be honest.

Anyways here are the pictures of the door handle. The old door handle has the white backing the new door handle has clear plastic clips on the inside looks beefier.
