From 2011 BMW 328i to 2012 CT200h...best decision ever.

I just took delivery of my obsidian/caramel 2012 CT200h today. I bought a new 2011 BMW 328i back in March and quickly decided that it wasn't the car for me. I had been on the fence about trading it in but hadn't made any solid decisions about what I was going to do. As luck would have it yesterday I was driving down the road (not looking for cars or dealerships) and I happen to pass my local Lexus dealership and saw this crazy looking Lexus (keep in mind I had no idea that the CT200h even existed yet). I immediately pulled into the dealership to investigate. It was love at first sight. I test drove a 2011 Obsidian/Caramel premium Nav car and loved it. I had a 2008 Prius that treated me well so once I found out the CT was a Prius in Lexus clothing I had high expectations. All my expectations were met and exceeded. I chatted at the salesman about buying vs. leasing for a few minutes he gave me some cost numbers and I went on my way. Side note: I've bought 14 cars in the last 8 years (some for me, some for my wife) and I had the best experience at the Lexus dealership. Could be that my local dealership is top notch, not too sure how your experiences have been. They even had it sitting in the center of the showroom waiting for me before I had signed any papers, see pic. I had never before considered a Lexus as I've always said to myself "eh, it's just an overpriced Toyota". Boy was I wrong. Anyway, I got a call later that night saying that the dealership just got in a 2012 CT with the same exact options as the 2011 I test drove. I went in today and signed the lease. I got her with 33 miles on the odo and have spent the past 50 miles joyriding. I literally just got home from the dealership :) Anyway, sorry for rambling. Short version: Great car, I'm in love. I can't' wait to see how she treats me in the future! My only complaint is that I miss my HIDs :(

Kensun HID

Comstock,

Welcome to forum and congrats on the car. There is a good HID conversion kit Kensun  for $65-85 depending on where you buy , that is unplug/plug easy install.

Welcome !

I think your experience with Lexus is fairly universal. They really do seem to take the attitude of "WE WANT YOUR CUSTOM!" which goes from :
Attitude of the people in Lincoln Lexus (UK)
Feisty lady at Bristol Motor Show who loved her CT
Lexus Cheltenham being great

Contrasting with -
Honda garage - no interest in talking to customer
VW garages (multiple) - taking the mick out of my sister when she had a Golf TDI
GM garages (multiple) - not doing work

CT vs Prius - the thing that made my mind up to go CT was the test drive. The CT just feels much more solid and better built even before you consider the higher class inside.

How silent is the 2012 given that it has the uber-annoying low speed warning sound for pedestrians?

I'm going to break whatever speaker makes that noise as soon as I get my car
I haven't noticed it from inside the vehicle. I'm not sure how loud it sounds to the pedestrians outside the vehicle.
Lexus service is top notch! Might be a reason why they win so many awards in customer satisfaction. Welcome to the family

 Ha ha ha. Any idea if it's a programmable setting? Might be worth asking the dealer first.

I went to check if they had put up the 2012 CT manual (similar to the 2011 which gave dealer options to turn off reverse beep) to see if they had this as setting dealer can change. It's not up yet online, maybe those who have purchased a 2012 and went through that list at the dealership can chime in.
Thanks for your post.... It's soo good to hear a comparison to the BMW... Makes me feel like I made the right choice.
