Has anyone put a GPS in the dash door where the factory unit is normally installed? The space seems to be taken up by the 12v outlet and not much can go in there. It seems they could have recessed the outlet better. I have a Garmin 1490 I was hoping to put in there but i can't close the door. I don't see much use for that space.

I have a 2012 with the dash door but there is really no space to install my garmin unit. I was wondering if anyone modified the compartment or door to make something work.
