Washed my wife's car yesterday, by hand - never use automated wash!

For a small car there is a lot of metal.

More interestingly there are some very intricate shapes and curves.

A lot of convex stuff that you normally don't see on car body panels.

Certainly looks good all cleaned up and minus the snow salt and sand from last week!

Well, I put two coats of wax on mine in the same day, but it didn't move me as much. ;-)

Well hand washed my new CT tonight, one thing I did notice is the doors sit within the sills, if that makes sense, meaning water gathers on the sills, okay when the water is clean, noticeable when the water is dirty ond the car is white! Nothing you can do about it but I have never had a car where this is the case.

Waxed mine last week when I picked it up, did put the rimwax on this week though

i just washed my car this afternoon, too, and there's one thing that bugs me. there are lots of little crevaces and slots and just spaces where water keeps leaking from and unless you have a pressurized air hose or something, you wipe to dry and a minute later there's more water streaking out. well, the car still looks good though.

Water in creases... well use the good 'ol technique of moving the car forward, braking abruptly, then back braking abruptly again. Repeat a couple times and voila!

Washed mine as well for the first time last weekend. Will wash it again this weekend and add the wet tire dressing and Mother's spray on detailer wax on top of the wax the dealer applied on delivery (as it's fading a little, normal with any wax). There's nothing like pampering the car you're passionate about and for me, no "issues" on the "washability" of the car. If there's anything, it's with cleaning the 10-spoke 17" wheels, but not only am I nit-picking here, there's far less brake dust than the '08 IS I had making the cleanup fairly easy.

Here in the UK the dealers always push Supaguard (supagard) internal and external protection. Have a look on those well visited auction websites and you will find this on there, The dealers charge around £400 for applying this, took me 1 hour at a cost of my time and £10 for the sponge. You can also buy the leather protector and DIY!!!

As for no polishing required Supagard sell a top up cream and you do need to apply this to the outside, and it is not easy to apply, need a grey overcast day, that is on the cool side, else it dries too qucikly and then is a nightmare to actually polish, even with as electric buffer. Alternatively, do it in a garage.

Be sure to open the four doors and get the bottom of the door sills. Dirt rends to collect there. The clear bra that came with my car is a big help. It is on the front hood, back of side view mirrors, and back deck. Bought a bunch of microfiber cloths, and a very soft sponge. Great feeling to get the car perfect again.

There are a lot of threads about washing cars on this and other forums, but since this is the only one where the TALK started getting dirty, it's the one I'm inclined to put the most confidence in.

One trick for fixing water from all the nook and crannies is a trick I would do after washing my Harleys is to take my battery power leaf blower and blow dry then towel dry
