Anyone know where I can get my hands on some door edge guards to prevent paint nicks, and maybe even body side molding for the lower door panel?

lexus has applique's (sp?) for the car that they place on certain parts of the car that may receive more scuffing than normal (like on top of the rear bumper/hatch). maybe you can ask the dealer if they have something like that for door edges?

Hi...New guy here!

Just wanted to say that your dealer might have something or (depending on your location) you should be able to find a local shop that installs chip protect or some clear bra film (3M etc.) and see if they can install it on the door edges. We install it on the door edges and behind the door handle on ever car. Yes, I work for a dealer just thought I would add my two cents.

I've posted several posts in past weeks about the molding. That has been a huge issue with me. So thanks for the link.

But when I look at the molding in the pic in that link, the molding is at the very bottom of the door. The sides of the car bulge out above that point, don't they? So I don't see how that molding could help prevent dings. It's set too low, isn't it? Molding is usu. at the level of around the top of the tires (just slightly below the top of the tires).

In any case, the price is WAY below what the salesman at Sewell said a local body shop could do it for (he said it'd be about $350).

Well, now it sinks into my head. $179 for the molding in that link is just the PARTS cost, not incl. installation. So the $350 the salesman quoted includes the installation. That makes sense.

Has anyone tried these body side moldings? I don't think Lexus has come out with anything yet. I had something similar to this put onto my ES350 by the dealer when we purchased the car.

I saw stainless, chrome lower body modeling on ebay for $83 free shipping. I am thinking of purchasing it. It looks good.
