I feel like freakin' Clint Eastwood, I have to stand guard on my porch with a frickin shotgun. So I'm assuming some kid stole one of my air valve metal covers... anyone know if the dealer will just give me another? How much do they cost if not?

You know I've been thinking about this for years. I live in a great neighborhood really, but there have been a few things happen over the years that were pushing me to do some sort of Security Cam, including someone stealing some antique cast iron furniture off my front porch while I was sleeping and my neighbor had one of his brake light covers stolen not to long ago. Recently I got a new neighbor with two kids about 12-14. I love kids, but I'm noticing that age is a little wild based on the commotion going on over there with their friends when the Mom is not home. Then I noticed bicycle skid marks on my gravel driveway with rocks thrown on the sidewalk to the house... then a skid mark about 3 feet from the back of the CT! So finally decided I needed to get some sort of Camera. I thought this was a better idea then talking to the parent for now... I don't want two teenagers pissed off at me..
Anyway.. I pulled out a webcam and tried it with no luck as it wouldn't adjust to the bright light at all. Then I pulled out an old Intel webcam and it worked great. I'm using my old X40 Thinkpad which I put an SSD in and software called Vitamin D. One can get a free version which monitors just one Cam. It senses motion and records People and Unknown objects and only saves those frames. I do plan on getting a higher end Security Cam with night vision and have been researching those a bit. Anyway gives me a little peace of mind and when I install a better wireless IP camera I will be able to have a look when traveling. I don't own a gun, but sure enjoyed that Eastwood movie... R
