I purchased my 1st Lexus and my 1st Hybrid about a month ago, a 2013 Silver on Black Lexus ct200h. Honestly, I love the feel of luxury cars but the tech always leaves me feeling stuck in 2001. So in my hunt for a new vehicle I wanted to find a good luxury car that took Regular fuel (my RDX got 18mpg on Premium) and without all the proprietary tech I don't feel is worth it. So when I found a deal on a low mile 2013 CT w/ out all the tech I jumped. No backup camera, stock speakers, no navigation but everything else leather, sunroof, hatchback… a perfect canvas for a transformation.

This forum has been a lot of help finding what I need, thanks! Over the next few weeks a friend and I will be taking my new-to-me 2013 no-nav CT and giving it the 2015 after-market App Radio sound overhaul. Our first steps are to get the App radio installed; which since there is no dash kit we'll need to fabricate a custom one. I bought the smallest App enabled head unit I could find, a low depth 6in non-detachable face unit, per some of the suggestions, our goal is to NOT cut/modify the original dash!

Once we get a dash kit fabricated we will install the OE 2.5in rear view mirror/monitor and an OE replacement light cover backup camera via a 2.4Ghz wireless receiver. The goal is to use the mirror’s optional on/off screen to serve as the App Radio's video out, meaning whatever I see on the Radio *should* display on the rear view mirror.. backup camera, maps, etc. We should also be able to wire the steering wheel controls and USB/audio jack from the center console using the Metra Axxess interface controller.

I think the door speakers will be the the easiest part of the whole process. The adapter(s) and connectors(s) I ordered mean less splicing/fabricating... plug-and-play (fingers crossed). Thanks to this forum for the leads!

On the sub/amp enclosures, I don’t want to lose all that hatch space or the ability to fold down the seats completely flat for trips to home-depo, etc. So we are going to use our fabrication skills to make two custom fiber glass enclosures which will fit between the rear wheel well and the back of the trunk against the side wall. One with custom air-space for our low-profile 10in sub (on the right) and another for an LED back lit amp rack (on the left) all carpeted to match.

I know this installation isn’t going to be a simple one. We are going to go slow and steady and will likely take a few weeks to complete. We’ve done plenty of installs and custom enclosures but a custom dash kit and working on a hybrid will def be a new one for us both. We typically document our process fairly well and would love to share it here as we do on other boards. There seems to be some success and a lot of questions on these boards about aftermarket installs on the Ct. We are about to venture into uncharted territory on this vehicle so if you have advise i’m all ears...

ps. we are both engineers who are also owners in a music production company, so a mix of technology and sound design is our passion… I’m after clean, clear and balanced sound not trying to set off car alarms and rattle license plates. Enjoying music as its meant to be heard full/complete.

Any one with a 3d printer want to have a go at fabricating a dash kit? That is really what is stopping most aftermarket HU upgrades.

Would love an update as well as a kit that would make this upgrade viable!

Yes...more details please. Unless I'm missing something, it would appear that no modification was needed to fit that unit in. Normally a cut and removal of some console is needed to fit a true double DIN deck.

Hey GShadow,

I am currently in the process of placing a 2 din into the dash similar as this. Did you buy a wiring harness kit or how did you tap into the systems wiring? I have been looking for diagrams and information on this all day.

Is there anyway you could help with me a link or product number for that harness? I don't have an aftermarket harness to hook to the stock harness for wiring and have looked through scosche and manta but have had no luck.

any help would be greatly appreciated sir.

I could do that. Might want to start with your location in this great big world of ours. Then you might want to post up some pictures of your harness you have in the car. That would be a good start.

I live in madison wi. Actually have the 11 200h with Nav and premium sound.

When I pulled out the factory radio I was surprised to see so many harnesses and connector point and in the back because I knew I was missing something. None of the colors line up with the stock harness so I was curious if this was a scorcher or manta fix

Here is what I am looking at guys - I have this top piece(transmitter) and side holders that I simply transferred from my stock radio to the double din. If you know of any harnesses or wiring diagrams that can assist me in these three leftover plugs - that would be amazing as my car is still currently down due to the interior being a mess.
