Cup Holder Lights - Always on?

13271 Views 19 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Raidin
Has anyone else noticed that the cup holder lights are always on? They are not really noticable during the day, but at dark cast a faint blue glow on the cup holders. Is there a way to turn them off?

I brought my CT to the dealership to have some LPS settings changed and to have them check out the cup holder lights for me. One of mine had burnt out so the dealer had to order a replacement. They could not confirm if they should always be on or if there was a way to turn them off.

714ct200h is correct. There are two LED lights above : one red and on blue.

Yeah. The left one is Red, i believe, and the right one is blue.

Does anyone have a list of the possible LPS settings?

I know about the back up beep and seat belt, but when I bring it in I'd like to get as much done as possible.

Thanks.

See if your dealer can turn off the footwell lights (under dash lights) so they don't illuminate your feel while driving at night. Mine said their was a mis-print in the manual and that they can't turn them off while driving with the headlights on at night. :(
Thanks 714ct200h, midcow3 and Matt_RN! You guys are right. I haven't tried Sport Mode at night and now feel like an idiot for not thinking of trying it when I noticed one as not lit up. I guess I can take solace in that the dealer didn't realize this either. The dealer said it's not a stock part so they needed to order the part. The part has arrived at the dealer this week and I just need to take my car in to have it swapped. Guess I will spare myself the drive now.

Cheers!

Does the CT come with footwell lighting for ambient lighting when you're driving, or is it only for when the car is parked?
its not really a cupholder lighting, its actually ambient lighting.

footwell is always on when the car is running.
Hi there, this is my first post. Just bought a new 2014 ct200h touring. So far its been a great commuter car! As per the question asked, the footwell lighting and blue led cup holder light can be turned off on my car by dialing the brightness down for instramentation lighting. The dial is on the left of the steering wheel. Hope this helps.
I was test driving the CT the other day. I dd not realize their ambient footwell lights always stayed on. Can anyone confirm that?

I'm looking at buying the CT but I drive at night a lot and having the interior lit up helps my eyes a lot.

The Lexus dealer can turn off the foot well lights, but then the foot well lights will not turn on when the door is opened. One of my major complaints with the CT. :(
I was hoping that I could get the footwell lights to stay on when driving at night.

New CT owner, nudging an old thread instead of making a new one.

After reading numerous threads here and elsewhere, my right cup holder light is blue, and is always on. Switching to sport mode, changes my dash eco gauge to a red tach, but the cup holder light stays blue and on the right. At no point have I ever seen my left/red cup holder light come on. Is this normal? I just purchased a 2012 CT, could this have been something the previous owner had done? So far my Lexus dealer experience hasn't been very good or impressive, so I am already imagining the fun trying to explain this to the service dept.

Thanks!

It should change to red when you change to sport mode. There may be something wrong. I wasn't aware of any settings that would alter that.

Well, for what it's worth for anyone visiting this later. I always seem to the exception to any rule, so this probably won't ever effect anyone else.

I asked the dealer to take a look at it, after looking in all the settings myself, and according to my service rep he said the tech "found a setting he never knew existed himself" and got it working without connecting a PC/anything extra to the vehicle.

Now my dash turns on with a cool red light just like the normal/eco's blue light. And of course, the red/left cup holder light works as well. Even the transmission mode selector (eco/normal/sport) lights up red now. I was missing out. Whoo hoo!
The CT has footwell lights for driving at night, built in?

I know this is an old thread but you can turn off both the foot well lights and the cup holder lights together in the display settings. Time delay before turning off interior lights. Set that to OFF.

You can only turn them both on or off thought. Not one or the other. Turning off the cup holder light alone would be a dealer only setting.
Just an FYI: dealer settings can be done via an app on your phone, like Carista, and a bluetooth OBD2 connector.

If you're familiar with Carista, I want to add that they seem to have removed the $20 purchase price for the app, and offer only a subscription now. If you bought it before this change, you should be ok. Mine still works.
