Cricket like sound coming from back

I can hear a cricket-like sound coming from the back. It's quite loud to be annoying, even with the radio on.
It only comes up when the speed is below 20kph and when the vehicle has come to a full stop.

It's happened once only today for about 10 minutes driving. I don't think this is the end of it.

Anyone had this issue?
What could possibly cause it?
There's definitely no cricket inside.

My first guess was a cricket. I guess I am stumped.

Seriously, I have never experienced this. And I am glad of it. Hope you can sort it out soon.
Start by taking everything out of your trunk and backseats (child seats, etc). If the noise persists, go further and start taking out the spare tire / tools.

I had a light thumping noise every time I accelerated just a few days ago. Drove me nuts until I found a ping pong ball painted to look like an eyeball that one of my kids left in the rear passenger side door handle cup.
there is a fan for the battery, maybe it is squeaking?

Maybe, because it had that sound even when the vehicle was at a complete stop. If it happens again, I'll have it checked out.
good luck!

Can you please post back here when you find a resolution?
Ride in the back seat while someone else drives. The battery fan vent is on the passenger side of the rear seat.
I bet it is that fan. My fan is surprising loud considering what it is. I'm not sure why it has to be that loud, it should be similar to a computer fan, but instead it makes this little "chirping" sound every revolution. I can't hear it with the radio on so it doesn't bother me too much but it just seems strange.
i've experienced the exact same thing. i brought it to the dealership a couple months ago but couldn't recreate it while i was there so nothing could be done. since then it has gotten worse and when i brought it back the other day, the mechanics were able to hear it and reproduce it, they had to drive around for 5-10 minutes. so now it looks like they're going to replace the fan for the hybrid battery.
Rear Battery fan

I have this problem currently. Is this a defect? I have a 2012 CT200H and the fan is already having problems. It vents to the right side of the passenger rear seat, correct? That is where the noise is coming from. Maybe the bearings went bad, but sure enought...cricket noise!!
I hear it too

I have the same noise but when i drive over humps at speeds of about 30mph. I hear it specifically at night at the rear cargo area. I may have finally figured it out. On the driver side cargo area there is a cover right next to the speaker, I opened it and started banging on it and would hear a rattle/static like noise. I believe its something loose or defective inside that area. I will be in contact with my dealer and let you know what they find.

One thing you all might look at are the little metal tie downs on both sides of the rear cargo area. Mine made some noise at one point on rough roads at certain speeds. The movable part rattles some and makes a noise. Not sure it is like a cricket noise though. GL
