Is there a 12V accessory (power activated by switching ON) fuse within the fuse box under the hood? I'd like to tap in a long, thick wire into the car where I can use that for tapping in other multiple accessories like dash cams, auto-dimming/LCD mirror, and a couple USB outlets. Would there be anything particularly unsafe about this? I'd have all the tapped in wires have their own fuses, of course.

I've scoured all over the web and this forum and can't seem to find any other accessory wires that aren't tiny or hairlike; not exactly suitable for tapping in wires. Unless someone out there has a picture of "the ultimate wire" they can show that is nice and thick enough to tap into with multiple wires, this seems to be my best bet.

Awesome! I’ve only had my 2012 for a few weeks and have yet to reinstall my dual dash cam setup due to the odd placements of the cigarette lighter sockets. The dashboard one (non-nav) has some possibilities, but I like this idea better. Are they labeled at all as to what fuse is what?

With the image stormchaser provide, the 15A blue fuse at top right, has no wire behind it. It is a PWR_OUTLET2. You can also see there is another 15A blue fuse below it (3rd from the upper right), it is PWR_OUTLET1 that currently goes to your cigarettes lighter plug and other things.

While PWR_OUTLET2 is open, I tapped and inserted a wire behind the fuse box and it is a live circuit. I believe it is what you want and I am currently using it to supply my radar detector and dashcam.
