The dealer will usually try a quick fix before doing anything more definitive.
My passenger door handle would fall apart by just looking at it. The first attempt at a repair by Lexus lead to it falling apart in the Lexus service centre carpark when I picked up the car that afternoon.
The whole trim was subsequently changed a month later. Personally I don't have half days to waste waiting while the car is getting repaired. One of the reasons I bought a Lexus in the first place.
