Black streaks on Rear After rain

461 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  MartsCT200
Aloha Y’all. Always getting black line streaks after the rain but the only place is down the rear, what do you think is the cause? (Recently washed car so this isn’t all that bad yet)

Also noticed on the inside top, the middle hole is missing the black plastic piece covering the hole is that supposed to be the case? What is that piece called?

Thanks everyone!🙏🙏

Hi, the black streaks that you mention, do you mean the dirt spots on the top of your bumper on the picture? If yes, that's normal. The rear of a CT gets dirty very fast when driving in the rain. It's just caused by the design of this car. Some people fitted mudflaps and it supposed to get less dirty but I can't tell for sure since I haven't fitted those.

The part that's missing is this I think:
Cushion - Lexus (75129-AC010)

Good luck!
Just looked at mine and seems that the missing piece isn't a missing piece. On mine it's open too :)

Interesting. My 2016 with 30k miles has the same exact hole situation, even with the same dirt lol. I wonder if that's some sort of drain hole.

And the black spots of dirt on the back are because you drove in the rain. Just doing it once will make it look like that (doesn't matter if you washed it). Mudflaps won't help, because it's the way the air comes over the back of the car.

It's a drain hole. When I got my car back from the body shop, I asked about the same thing. I thought something was missing.

Thank you! Cause on all my previous cars I never had any spots whenever driving in the rain including my 2001 Lexus is300. Wasn't sure if it because it was DESIGN of the car or its WHITE Color.

Any way to prevent it or increase time between washes? Thank you!
It's the design of the car. My 2002 IS300 did the spots on the rear bumper and trunk as well, but it had a spoiler. The whole back of the CT is a dead zone for air, all of the wetness gets sucked into that area, depositing all of the dirt. Only way to avoid it really is to not drive when it's wet lol
When I was little I always thought it never rained in Hawaii...:))
But I think there is nothing you can do to prevent this other than not driving in the rain, wrap the rearbumper in black or trade it for a black/dark car... Well, the streaks will still be there ofcourse, but at least less visible..😊
