Bigger brakes?

1568 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Indolent
Hello all! I was wondering if there was any way to get bigger brakes for my car without absolutely crushing my wallet. I found some big brake kits dedicated to the CT200h but they're really pricey and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions, or had gotten bigger brakes for their CT themselves? My discs are steel and incredibly tiny, so they overheat very fast when I'm driving the car hard, which really prevents me from putting down good laps at race events (Yes, I track my CT occasionally, along with autocross events too.) because my brakes get very hot very fast. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, don't be afraid to tell me please. Cheers :)

Thanks to Jae Borce from the Facebook CT groups, we managed to use..
  • Scion TC (11-15?) TRD Calipers (StopTech ST41)
  • PTR0952092 - TRD Rotor, Left (340mm x25mm)
  • PTR0952093 - TRD Rotor, Right (340mm x 25mm)
  • PTR0921111RU - TRD big brake kit replacement pad (Stoptech ST-41 Brake Pads)
  • 950.44029 Stoptech/Centric Stainless Steel Braided Lines (optional, highly recommended)
  • M12-1.75 x 50mm 10.9 grade x4 flange/caliper bolts
  • Custom "Rotor" / Hub centric rings 55mm - 62mm (~6mm height) x2

Modifications:
  • Re-drill rotors from 5x114.3 to 5x100 at machine shop
  • Grind down knuckle by upper caliper bolt hole
  • Bend/cut/remove dust shield
  • I'm using 18" wheels, 17" TE37's barely clear but it's very close, could potentially hit balance weights depending on location within the barrel

This looks amazing. Thanks for sharing the valuable info. I’m looking to join some CT FB groups. Which one(s) should I consider?

Most active groups would be
Lexus CT200h USA, can’t speak for the Lexus CT200h Official group since many of us get banned for even posting helpful links. Jae also created Lexus CT200h Only which is continually growing daily
