Does anyone have the non-nav backup camera option?
Electrochromatic (auto-dimming) inside mirror with compass and backup camera; $550

Also, does anyone know if the rear camera is the same unit for the nav and non-nav systems? Any recommendations for aftermarket cameras?

lexus uses the gentex mirror and cameras. so if you're going aftermarket that's the way to go.
Picture Please?

Could someone with a factory Nav system please post a picture of the backup camera on the rear hatch? I'd like to know where the factory camera is located. Thanks.

Seems to be on the left side of handle of the trunk (number 2 in the picture)

Awesome, thanks that's exactly what I was looking for. The Prius appears to be in the same location, although it has a plastic "cutout" which can easily be removed to accept the camera. I'm looking into different options to add this functionality.
I realized that I wanted a backup camera after I got the car. So I had an aftermarket one installed. It was initially installed off-center pretty much at the place where the OEM one seems to be installed, but I had the installers move it closer to the center for a better view. Seems to be working just fine so far.

If it's the same setup as on a GS, it doesn't matter that it's offset since the lens/imaging arrangement is set up to present a symmetrical view on the screen.
Hiroaki, do you know the manufacturer and model # of the camera? Does your camera have the distance lines? Did they drill holes to attach the camera? Are you using the Gentex mirror for the display; which model i.e. with HomeLink, compass, etc? How much did you pay for the total installation? Anything else that I need to know or things that I should consider before proceeding? Thanks.

Well, for an aftermarket setup it does seem to matter.

I went to a local installer, he didn't have the Gentex brand in stock. He got the camera and mirror from here: CAMERAS IATFT Automotive Reverse Systems . No homelink or compass. It does have distance lines. Seems to be working fine so far. Cost including installation came out to just over $400.

The manufacturer does seem pretty obscure though; if I were to do it again I'll probably buy something well-reviewed on Amazon and have it installed separately.
I am considering picking up a CT200h Premium with the Premium Audio package (package AM). The description of that package says that it's not applicable with the Backup Camera (BC) option.

There is apparently a Premium Audio package AO that includes the backup camera, but that doesn't appear to be how these cars are being ordered in the northeast...the ones w/o nav are apparently AM cars.

So my question is, any idea if the dealer can install the BC option on an AM car? If the wiring is there, I would think it's just a matter of installing the camera & swapping out the mirror for one with a screen in it, but I don't know if they'd be interested in going to the trouble.
atebit, did you figure this out? I just picked up my Matador Red CT200 Premium two days ago, with the premium audio package -- and really wanted the Backup Camera but was told that's not offered as an option separate from the Nav system. I really want one that is integrated in the mirror to avoid the necessity of mounting a monitor elsewhere.
From what my dealer has told me, they should be able to add the factory camera/EC mirror at the dealership, as long as I am ok with the mirror not having the compass (which I am). I am still waiting for them to get back to me WRT if "should" == "can" and what the price would be, but they sounded pretty positive about it the last time we discussed it. Will keep you posted...

BTW, from looking at your location, my dealer could be your dealer as well. :)
BU Camera?

Hey atebit, I'm wondering where you landed with the dealer-installed backup camera. I'm trying to get my dealer on board with installing one but they are saying that I need to go with an aftermarket installer.

Did you succeed in getting one installed? If so, how much?
I'm interested in getting a backup camera installed on my CT200h, too, once I take delivery. I asked a dealer if they would do it, but haven't heard anything yet. If I were to use an aftermarket installer, how would I find someone who could do it? I don't even know what to google.
Kaydee - you might try checking with local shops that do audio system work for cars. Since you essentially are just needing to run the wiring form the camera to the monitor (whether built in to the rear-view mirror or an actual monitor) they might be a good starting point, since that sort of work falls into their usual activities.
Thanks, Mongoose - I'll try that if I don't hear back from the dealer. I have a $300 service credit so am still hoping they'll install one. Getting aftermarket anything installed on a car is new for me.
