I ordered mine at the end of March with written purchase order and $1K deposit. I was told back then mine should be in May production given the situation in Japan.

I got a call from the dealer last Friday and was told my order has been cancelled. If I decided to keep, then I have to wait to Q1 of 2012.

I was also told the production now is to fulfill the promised March/April production. The dealer also told me that the June and July productions are still in and just the entire May production is taken our of the queue.

I felt this is a bit strange...

Anyone having similar stories to share?

There is something decidedly wrong going on here. If you ordered in March, then you shouldn't have long to wait.

I think a letter to Lexus is in order.

Sounds fishy (like the dealer got a higher price for your unit), seeing production is coming back and there are cars shipping.

I too think that they received your car, but had the opportunity to sell it to someone else for more money, so cancelled your order.

There is a Lexus hotline that you can use to report questionable dealer conduct. Be sure to tell them that you put a deposit on car when you ordered in in March.

Did you tell them you'd think about it and get back to them?

I got a call from the dealer last Friday and was told my order has been cancelled. If I decided to keep, then I have to wait to Q1 of 2012.
Don't mean to play devil's advocate, but this statement makes it appear the dealer, technically, gave you a choice rather than they just canceled on you without permission...at least that's how they'd claim it if problems occur.

Maybe that's not what you meant...just sayin'. If that is the case, I think you should call Lexus and report it. They can't just cancel your order at will. I don't mean that in a legal matter sort of way, but in the customer satisfaction sort of thing.
