Accessory installation

Greetings,

Where are accessories like the paint protection and remote engine start installed? Factory? Dealership? Are there any advantages or preferences regarding where that is done?

Thanks!

Those definitely aren't factory-installed. I'd say 80-90% of the time they're installed at the dealer. Sometimes certain accessories may be installed at the port (after it's left the factory but before it reaches the dealer). Are you thinking of buying or leasing your CT? The rest of the information depends on what your plans are in that regard.
Thanks for your response. I am thinking of buying and was wondering if there are advantages in ordering with these specified, or could a person return to the dealer and have them added.

Thanks again!
The dealer certainly can add/install those options whenever you want after you get the car...

While this IS true, certain options are cheaper when done before it arrives at the dealership. Example, a Remote Start is always cheaper to be "port installed" vs dealer installed.
Thank you both for the information.

I have about talked myself out of the remote start since I have a warm garage at home. But good to know it can added later with no mechanical disadvantage.

good call!!!

I know we would charge $595 installed (parts/labor)...as we do on any 2010/11 rx350,rx450h, gx460 and hs250h....

and on Showroom | Lexus: Darker Side of Green

its listed at $375 !!!
Lucy you are absolutely right you can install its automatic starting engine after you purchased and as you said you have facility of garage at your home that's so nice thing.
Can the rain sensing wipers be retrofitted by the dealer? It is available only as part of the leather package, which I don't want. What about the LED headlamps (skip the washers) as a retrofit.
Port Options

Hi everyone. First post on this forum as you can see. Like everyone here, I too am excited to get behind the wheel.

Lucy, my CT left Portland by rail on Friday. The remote start and mats were the only accessory options on my list which are available currently. They were placed into the car at port. The upgraded wheels are 3 months out, the door sills are 2 months out and the the rear deck protector is 1 month out. The applique is available now if you would like it.

I am surprised that the accessory parts are not available at the vehicle launch. This seems to me like the accessory division either were not in the loop on the launch date or just simply dropped the ball with their vendors. I suspect there will be quite a few disappointed prospective "initial" buyers.

For the midwest customers there are going to be only a few of the initial 150 or so cars with fully loaded factory options. ( I believe the number is around 10 for all the dealerships in the region.) Each dealership is supposed to get 2 cars initially. I do remember that a fully loaded Bronze mica is not in the initial build.

Just thought this may be of some interest.

unfortunately items like those can not be added by the dealer..

you would have to take it upon yourself (and voiding warranty)

not worth it for just those things...

Congrats on the approaching arrival of your CT! And thanks for the info on the accessories. This confirms some of what I have been figuring out. I was fortunate to drive my first CT last week at a dealer event. I am hooked. Unfortunately I was not brave enough to order it before driving, and now I want one. Looks like I will be lucky to get one configured the way I want and will worry about the paint protection and cargo tray for later.... I may have to wait and order. How long did yours take??
