So I installed some lower chrome moldings on my car yesterday and use used adhesion promoter to get the tape to stick better. All held well except the molding on the front drivers side door did not stick in the very front edge. This is more due to the design of the molding as the tape does not protrude past the lip of the molding to make proper contact with the car.

Rather than taking the entire piece off, cleaning up the stuck on tape and then retaping and installing is there any automotive glue the wont damage the paint underneath. I need such a small amount to get it to stick properly. 3M emblem adhesive will eat through the paint so that is definitely a no go.
