    Negative observations

    Just saw and drove a yellow/black w/o nav, and a brown/caramel w/nav.
    My negative observations were:
    1. The sunroof is very small and does not open fully.
    2. The interior, with any color seats and half colored door panels, is otherwise totally black. This is claustrophobic in a small cabin with small glass areas.
    3. The radio readout w/o nav is hard to read, old fashioned.
    4. The rear hatch area floor is high, and the opening smaller than expected.
    5. With nav and rear view camera, the outside mirrors do not tilt down in reverse as does other Lexuses.
    6. The Fire Agate brown is quite dark, and looks miserable with black interior trim. The Daybreak Yellow is a mustard color; beware of lower resale value.

What items were you happy with?

I agree this is not a perfect vehicle but not many are.

For me it is too slow, but for my wife it is fine.

This is not a vehicle for someone with 3 kids, but my wife will be driving alone
in this vehicle 95% of the time.

Her current car (a BMW) gets less than 20 mpg, the Lexus will get over 40 mpg.

    Life is a compromise.

    Positive observations

The Nuluxe feels and looks just as good as leather.
The front seats are very comfortable and supportive.
The upgrade radio sound is great, and the nav quite intuitive.
Good turning radius. I like the feel of the steering wheel.
Quiet on the road, good on bumps.
I found acceleration adequate, since I do mostly city or mixed driving.
I'm nervous about the push button start and stop. With it being silent when stopped, you can easily forget to turn off the engine; hopefully not in your attached garage!
Some parts of the interior felt cheap, such as the lower controls panel, which look like pieces of cardboard. The underside of the glove box is flimsy.

I would like to share my insights.. there is certainly some cost-cutting in the interior of this car when compared to that of other current Lexus models. However Lexus is quite good in hiding it unless you are very detail-oriented or know the details of the typical Lexus interior very well.

Among the cost-cutting areas, the one which bothers me a bit is the material of the door grip on the driver side. There are other things like not much felt coverage under the armrest or the glove box which can be fixed aftermarket.

Overall, I find the interior very pleasing. It is good to see Lexus has started putting some leather accent in the centre console in this price range of Lexus vehicles.

    Just rent my ct200h today,
    - good points are once Iam in my seated position there is almost as much room for the leg of rear passenger as ther is in the ES350.
    - child seat works well
    - I can put 1 golf bag and 1 push cart i trunk with the rear seats up.
    - Navigation system looks very well made.
    - front seat side support is amazing

the only downside is the pedal response,
but I didnt bought it for its drive but for the fuel economy it provides.

iam getting it march 15th. and would like to read the manual before. anybody knows if it is available in pdf.

Electrochromic (auto-dimming) outside mirrors with auto-tiltdown in reverse are available as part of the Leather Package:

My observation on "cost-cutting" is with the headliner which is not the typical Lexus plush felt material and the interior rear door top panels are of hard plastic instead of the front doors that are soft-padded. Other "cuts" are the lack of a rear center armrest and cupholders.

Other than that, putting things into perspective, the dash materials, fit and finish, and overall design are top-notch Lexus especially the nice dash stitching, and all this for $31K. In Canada, a base Prius is just $3K less than a base CT and without a doubt, there is a lot more than $3K of additional craftsmanship, quietness, and refinement in the CT. What a deal!

Gets better if you get the CT200h + Tech Group, compared to the 2011 Prius + Tech Group. Rain detection on one versus adaptive cruise control, and 3 inches less cargo space.

Unfortunately I have to wait at least two years before I can get my CT200h, but the wait could be worth it...the adaptive cruise control should be included by then.
