    Fix the reverse beeps!

    First this is my disclaimer...

It took me three tries to get this done, but it worked with my car. When I put it into R it beeps only once.

I got this from my friend with a Prius.

    1. Power on (not necessarily Ready, IG-ON will do)
    2. Set trip to ODO
    3. Power off
    4. Power on to Ready (Brake on)
    5. Within 6 seconds, press and hold trip button (ODO) for 10 seconds or more.
    6. While still holding trip button (ODO), shift from P to R then back to P.
    7. Now release trip button (ODO)
    8. This step is the confusing one, as it only can be seen on a Prius. The trip display will show "b on" or "b off" The trip button (ODO) is the toggle for beeps on or off. This is why it took me some tries to get it right.
    9. Power off. If you disconnect the 12V battery, the change maybe lost

    Good Luck to all!

I tried it this morning, but I forgot Step 9. It didn't work. I will try it again this afternoon when I leave work.

Hmm, I must be missing something. Can't get this to work. On step 6, does this mean to put it into reverse and leave it there (beeping?)? Or do you press the P button, then shift to R, then press the P button again?

As hdave said, you can simply roll your car into the dealer, and they will turn off the reverse beep. Also worth customizing if you're in the shop is to turn off the seat-belt beep!!! That thing is very annoying.

A lot of options can be customized, some by the dealer only. Here is the list. Unfortunately, spaceship sound is not among them

The guy who started this thread seems to have come up with the steps to turn off the backup beep. I was going to have that done at my first service, but it would be nice to just do it myself. Can't get his steps to work, though.

thanks for that doc I am almost to my 5000 check up. I am bringing that with me to get the beeps turned off for the belts and reverse. I think I’ll also get the window open option too.

I have a scangauge and this has the capability of reprogramming the ECU using the xgauge feature.
I have the reset codes for the Prius and I think they may be the same for the Ct.
When I get a chance I will give it a try using these codes.
You can also silence the seat belt beep using the scangauge to reprogram the ECU.
