Alarm going off - possible wet car issue ?

Wondering if anyone has seen an issue where their CT alarm goes off randomly ?

I had it go off a week or so ago, about 20 minutes after I got home from the carwash. I put it down to wetness on the door handles confusing the smart entry system. Lesson - wipe off the door handles after doing a carwash.

But - it's just gone off again, at a rather anti-social 11pm ... Quite keen that doesn't happen again but I need to understand the "why". I think it's dampness again, there's a lot of condensation out there at the moment ... As in - everything is covered with damp.

Wondering if anyone else has seen similar random alarm stuff happening or if I need to call the dealer to take a look. I've disabled Smart Entry for now to see what happens.

Contact the dealer. I have never heard of this happening.
The doors will lock and unlock while drying the door handles unless you have the remote 10 to 12 feet away.
This would not cause he alarm to go off and neither should a wet car.

I've disabled the Smart Entry and Start for now ...

Service will be due in March which isn't actually that long away. Hopefully I can leave it until then without the car being too antisocial

There is a comment in the manual about the possibility of the doors unlocking while driving if the door handles are splashed with water. So, it does seem that water can cause false activation. Having said this, however, I've never experienced this problem, even at the car wash!

I had this happen to me earlier this week, twice in the one nite! My car was in my carport when it happened.

The first time was at 11.30am. I went and checked the car and realised that it wasn't because someone had attempted to tamper with the car otherwise the sensor lights in the carport would have been lit up. All I did was using the key fob unlock and lock the doors.

The next time it happened was at 1.30am!! Again I checked the car and everything looked ok. This time I got into the car, started it and moved it about a 1 metre backwards and forwards and then relocked the car. After that everything was ok.

Was going to mention it to the service dept at the dealer next time I was passing by. If anyone gets a resolution to this happening I sure would like to know.

No alarm problem here - we don't have that option.

However, when I wash the car with the key in my pocket the lock mechanism actuates when I slide the wet sponge over the door handle.

Haven't had this problem with the CT or had it on any other Lexus smart entry systems.
